    Kid Talk: Buying "Boy Dresses"

Last night, I watched the kids while my wife went to dinner with her girlfriends. At one point my three year old sat down at our family computer and was pretending she was typing on the keyboard and using the mouse. She said "I'm buying boy dresses." My six-year old clarified: "I think she's buying a dress for you daddy." I smiled, and simply said "That's cool!"

They don't know how happy that makes me feel just to hear them say that, even if it was just in fun. Maybe one day she really will buy daddy a dress. If it ever happens, it will be one of my most treasured presents ever.

My daughter has a typically conformist view. A dress for daddy? Are you nuts? If I had on on in front of her, she'd get her little fingers in it and tear it off of me in shame!
