In Las Vegas for the weekend (Re-cap)

    Hi All,

I'm in Las Vegas for the weekend. I'm going to Just You Saturday night, but I'm looking for something to do Friday night and Saturday. Is Ross a friendly store in Vegas to go dressed. It's not my first outing, but I often chicken out as I travel alone in unfamiliar towns. The new dress I bought for Saturday is hideous. I have a second, but kinda wanted to look around. I also wanted to go to Starbucks for my morning fix, if there's a friendly local Starbucks.

    Thanks for your suggestions, Carrie

I'm in Vegas now (guy mode) and I'm reminded of friendly outings here over the last 3 years at every turn. You will have a wonderful time at Just You. Otherwise, the world is your oyster, hold your head high and have fun!

Yes, you can go anywhere on the strip. I walked the whole Caesar's Palace shopping area and had a lot of fun. I stopped at few stores and tried on cute outfits. Starbuck's is everywhere and will treat you just fine. Enjoy.

    HI Carrie:

I will also be at the Just you GNO on saturday night- see you there. Ross is also known as Ross, Crossdress for less. There should be no problem going there dressed. There is a Ross right on the Strip between the Wynn and the Riviera. You should do fine. As for Starbucks, I am not much of a coffeee drinker- Never been there.

Just spent a few days in Vegas and had a blast. Only got to spend a couple nights dressed but made the most of it. I stopped by on Thurs night and Amy invited me to a show at Escape Lounge. It was an awesome time and made some new friends. I had a lot of firsts and felt so at ease. Enjoy and have fun. Wish I was their help you enjoy it all!!!
Why is it everyone expects us to explain to them who we are? Isn't it enough of a privilege for them to have us in the world?

Update, I'm at Starbucks on Sahara at this very moment. Girl mode, I happen to have a meeting involving my side business in about an hour which kind of calls for female presentation (or at least it's that much more fun to be able to get out as ME for a few hours in one of my fav cities.)

Anyways, aside from a couple looks by the "local color" (who are now utterly ignoring me), my presence here hasn't made the world explode (coining one of my favorite "Erica-isms" there.

Las Vegas is a theme park for adults.
I found just about anything goes there.
Nice to have breakfast at 3 am and even the hotels let you in at 5 am. If yi=ou are dressed and they read you, the greeting is"Hey you guys havin a good time?"
Did you know that ladies hand out cards even to my wife. "Woman in your room in 20 minutes, ring now".
    Work on your elegance,
    and beauty will follow.

You might also head over to the fashion mall on the strip. I got a great skirt at Chico's and a ridiculously low price. They are happy to wait on you male or female mode. Say hi to Amy for us! Enjoy your time. I love Vegas.

It's been a while since I had a makover at Glamour Boutique, but when I did I had a great time going to a few of the gay bars. It was fun interacting with the other CD's and accepting gay girls. The last time I did mainstream was during the CES convention just after dark. I told everyone that I had a late afternoon sales presentation and drove to Bellagio parking garage and got made up in the car. A little foundation, lip gloss, wig, big sunglasses to cover the absence of eye shadow, 36c forms, sweater dress over skinny jeans and knee length black boots. Then it was off to the strip sidewalk where I spent about two hours walking, but not really interacting with people other than returning a few appreciative smiles. Nobody screamed or pointed my way. I did get handed a few of the "girls to your room cards" and just smiled at them, actually after the first one I thought of having a little fun with it and put my hand out first to get them and the guys actually looked embarrassed ?? So just be yourself and have fun!!

Thanks for all the great replies. I think I will go by Amy's early Friday and see whats going on. I would love to shop on the strip in girl mode, not that I have the money for some of those places. Maybe I can replace the hideous dress I brought for Saturday night. It looks great on the hanger. It has a sewn in half belt, but I didn't notice they sewed it to the bottom of breast cups instead of the waist line(or even close), so the rest of the dress hangs like a tent. My wife got a good laugh and said, that will teach you to try things on before you leave. Thanks again, carrie

Carrie, I'm sure you already know that Amy opens her doors at 10 AM, but maybe not sharp? LOL It's the right thing to do, of course, and besides she has tons of outfits on consignment for you to pick over, as well! Bottom line. She wlll give you all the help you could ever need in virtually anything you need, and then some.

Sorry I won't be able to join in on all the fun that's sure to come. Deep, deep family medical problems are in the air and they take top priority right now.

Carrie, you may have an "empire waist" dress. That is where the pseudo waist is defined in the dress style to be just below the breast line. It is a great style for those that do not have that perfect figure (a bigger waist line), because the dress starts to flair outward at that higher point thus flattering the overall presentation instead of defining the actual figure below.

Here is a re-cap of my weekend "out" in Vegas for the girls coming next week.
Friday night I went to the shops at the MGM. Parking is off of Koval Rd. It parallels the strip behind the casinos. It is quite a walk from the parking garage to the stores, so wear comfy shoes. You will have to walk past valet, through the entrance, and through the casino to get to the stores, all of which had tons of people. Only one out of the thousand people I encountered felt it necessary to almost tackle her husband to point out that I was a guy dressed as a woman. Although, she was so close, she bumped into me. I continued to shop anyway. I went to starbucks, and didn't get so much as a stare.

Saturday, I went to another Starbucks, and Walgreens. They were also polite. I went to Smiths grocery for Ibuprofen and pantyhose, and again, not even a stare, and the cashier was very polite. Then I went by Just You to meet Amy and talk about the GNO(Girls Night Out). I went back to the motel, freshened my makeup, changed my outfit and went back to Just You, with a quick stop at a 7-11(or some quickie mart) for a Rockstar and some money. Amy, and Jody were terrific. Amy is an absolute Magician. I wish I had her do my makeup. I will definitely have her do my transformation next time I am there. I am not new to putting on makeup, and do a pretty good job, but she doesn't simply apply makeup. She WILL transform you. I don't know what she charges, but it's money well spent. The rest of the night was spent with the Just You gang for a birthday party at Just You, then to a local bar for a variety show. There were about 10 locals, and 1 out of towner, besides me. It was a great time. When you go to Vegas, have fun, and do what you want, because nothing is strange in Vegas, but every thing on the strip is a LONG walk. There will always be a starer, but for the most part, the majority wont even do a double take. Have fun, Carrie

I'm also in Vegas for a few days from this coming weekend - seriously considering going out dressed, but if I do, it would be my first time out... quite scary for me!

Any ideas of good places to hang out?

Yes, go by Just You and have Amy do your makeup. You will look like a Goddess (Google Just You in vegas). She has everything you will need. Then, go anywhere you want, because in Las Vegas, no one even cares. The shops at the MGM were fun, but I guess all the casinos have a mall in them. We went to a bar called crews 'n'. It was a good time. I was told to go to the downtown, or old town area. I think it was Fremont street. Have fun, and be safe.

omg, i see a post about vegas and i gotta say i love vegas since my first time out there in august 2010. This year i'm going again with my buddy the week of june 23-july 1 and of course my buddy doesn't know i dress at all but i'm very much thinking about coming out to him since we're in the same with room with 2 beds. i figure since my buddy is bisexual/gay, not sure which about him lol, then i could slip on some panties, tights, a denim skirt, my cute supergirl top, and shoes and walk out of the bathroom in the room and surprise him that i'm a crossdresser lol. thank you c_carrie, i will have to try Just You for my make up to be done since i'm not an expert at it lol. Do you happen to have a cost for the make up work carrie? i googled it but don't really see a place where it shows the cost of getting my make up done on there.

Glad you made it! And a customs search, oh dear! Glad you were confident, I've been thinking about the "risks" of a search as well, but at least covered, wife's name is on the luggage and "we always fly seperately". ..but I don't know what's up with those breast forms! I get in this evening. Fairly comfortable with my everything I've brought. But still plenty of concerns once I get there and decide to venture out of the hotel room. Enjoy the mirrors and feel free to private message me.

I'd kinda considered that scenario in my head when I knew I was going, but the guy was absolutely cool about it - just asked (obviously) who they were for, I just said "Me - I have some interesting dressing habits" and we just carried on... What he's worried about is whether I'm importing goods into the country illegally, not how I dress.

Anyway, presumably you're going internal flight, so you won't have go go through customs anyways

Yes, very easy, here connecting and interested in receiving your next status update. So, are you going to venture out? I'm feeling more confident about this after reading a post about a fellow dresser's 6th time out, it was most recent and great explanation and details of how dressed and where she went. Chat soon! Not sure what part of the strip you are in, but I'll be at the Wynn. Advanced weather said cool, all the better to have the extra layer on.
