I told my wife she could open any letter that arrives with my name on it except any that may be from the UK National Lottery.
I said, "I'll tell you what's in it when I call tomorrow from Barbados".

Can you believe that she thumped me? What did I say to deserve that?

What I'd do first is get a lot of wigs. Several kinds, lace and synthetic. Short, medium, long, red, black, brown, and blonde. I'd get makeup from several brands, breast forms of various sizes, and so many articles of clothing and shoes

C'mon now, you're rich! You fly chefs in from around the world and have them cook for you! OTOH, If you feel as though you want to create some sort of "fusion" of your own you might need to build that kitchen. If so, contract with a food corporation to market your creations as "Babeba's Own" brand!

What I'd do if I won the Lotto depends on how much I win!

Minimum Lotto Win: IL $1000 A Week for Life Lotto -> I'd know my future is secure and I have enough to marry a wife and not work. But I'd rather work with this low of a win.

$5 Million Lotto -- I'll be a thrifty millionaire. This is like retire early money. Would occasionally do temp work to get more money. Would travel some.

$50 Million Lotto - probably $35 million after taxes. Would give 8 million pretax to brother and relatives. Rest I would keep to travel some. I would became a good investor and try to live off investments. Why bother with a time consuming business?

$100 + Million - would give more to relatives to help them out. I'd travel a lot and live off investments.

$300 Million - would give more to relatives to help them out. I'd travel a lot and live off investments. Might get into mfg a product, making a video game, or doing a web business.

I'm already satisfied with my large women's clothes collection. A big Lotto win would only let me afford expensive designer clothing. And I would not get a sex change.

here's what i would do, assuming i won a large jackpot. it's funny i was talking with my SO about this just today.
    1. Dental Implants.
    2. A face lift. Not FFS, kind of unisex so that i could be either my male or female part.
    3. Fixing everything else on my body that is in need of repair or worn out.
    4. Laser hair removal.
    5. Investments, financial planning so that I could increase my wealth and live well.
    6. Piano lessons, voice lessons and creative endeavors.
    7. European delivery of a new Porsche, BMW or Mercedes along with maybe a month or two of touring Europe and the U.K.
    8. A month or two each year in various parts of the world.
    9. Charitable work.

I already live in a nice house, drive a nice car and so on. My lifestyle wouldn't change a whole lot.

I would set up a fund for each of my younger cousins and Crystal Alberta's niece and nephew to pay for their schooling wherever they wanted to go (also I would throw in some for my own future kids). My granny is in her 70s and still working: she can never hold on to money and has no savings because she gives it all away to televangelists, so I would put some in a trust account for my social-worker aunt and uncle to manage as her executors for when she cannot keep up with her house anymore and needs to either hire a carer or go to a long term care home. Other than my granny, I wouldn't give money to my family: they all have ways of making their own and it's kind of demeaning to say, 'here, accept charity because clearly you are making squat for money!' None of my family I am close to have debt other than the fact that my brother and his new wife bought a house together, and so I would feel totally fine with giving them a chunk towards their house but not the whole amount: I mean, it's their house and not mine, and I would just want to make sure that they had enough equity in their home to deal with it comfortably if they had something horrible happen to them and neither could work for a few years.

I would give a bunch of money to the Nature Conservancy of Canada so they can help protect vulnerable Grizzly Bear habitat on the west coast and help preserve the Y2Y corridor. I would set up a grant foundation to give money for enhancements to my favourite museums based on how they would decide to spend it, I would pay for scholarships in Haiti so they can have their own citizens train as technicians, tradespeople, doctors, nurses, builders and all the other jobs they are short of. I would put aside money to help clean up areas where debris from the Japanese disaster are washing up in North America. I would fund a prize to be awarded to the organization, nation or individual who works out how to deal with the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

I would probably hire a personal assistant, to follow me around and keep track of where I put down my keys and my glasses. I would hire JaytoJillian to run Zumba classes for me :-). I would buy a smallish house (really, I would - I've lived in a big house and it is more trouble than it is worth!) and hire help to get the garden started up properly. I would get rid of any fricking kentucky blue grass, or brome grasses or anything else that was in the yard, and replace it with short native grasses so I don't really have to mow or water.

After I bought one of EVERYTHING off ModCloth, Irregular Choice and ThinkGeek, I would find an awesome indie designer somewhere in the UK, US or Canada and work with them to create any other clothes Crystal or I felt like having in recycled fabrics, peace silk, or organic cotton, linen, bamboo fibre or wool; hopefully they would be able to hire starting-out designers to work with them on internships in their workshop and be able to (with my funds) devote some of their time to sharing their skills by visiting schools in their local area to share tips with home ec classes. I would buy about fifty gazillion pairs of shoes: running shoes which are comfy, cute, and functional, hiking boots for summer, fall, and winter, climbing shoes, outdoor sports sandals, cute walking sandals, cute bike riding sandals, comfy ballet flats, awesome sneakers, snowboard boots that fit a little bit better, boating shoes, awesomely cute dancing shoes, high heels, wedges, and pretty much anything without those silly peep toes that always give me weird blisters and suck.

I would buy a vintage rolleiflex TLR camera and set up a dark room (so long as the weird chemicals needed didn't make me stop breathing). I would buy all the ridiculously cute cruiser bicycles a girl could want, and cheekily install a small motor-and-battery that would charge as I pedaled, then kick in to help take me up hills because I am absolutely rubbish at riding upwards. I would take weeks at a time off work so I could go on long trips around the world - I would find some way to kidnap Crystal along with me as much as possible. I would hike the West Coast trail, and bike the Romantic Road. I would backpack around Europe again, visit more of Asia, spend time in South America, Australia, Africa, and I would volunteer to work as an assistant on a research project in Antarctica so I could say I'd been on all the continents.

Hrm.. I can't think of anything more off the top of my head?! I think that's enough, though!
Does anyone else think Babeba has put some thought into this?

In semi-seriousness, if I were to suddenly become fabulously wealthy there is one thing that I would do before anything else.

    I'd hire a level-headed person. Sign her to an well-paid and iron-clad contract that I can't break.

She'll have one job. She'll follow me around, observe what I am doing, and at appropriate moments whisper the following into my ear:

"You're about to do something stupid. Do you really want to end up like Howard Hughes, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley?"

I have always said I would go into a low income part of town and just start handing out money. After splitting it several ways with family and all, I would buy Jessica a separate home. I would have a nice home, not really a mansion, but it would definately have to have a walk in closet!!!! I would stock all of my things over there. When I want to change, I would just drive over there, and be able to escape reality all together. I would buy her a car for herself so she wouldn't have to drive my male car around. I would be happy with just that. I honestly hope I never get rich. I have had rich friends, famous friends, and politician friends. It changes people, and none of them are my friends anymore.
