In fashion show on 9/15: wish me luck!

    Hi girls,

A while ago I posted that the Christopher & Banks store in Asheville asked if I wanted to be in their next fashion show for the fall. Well they called and asked if I still wanted to do it and I said yes! It will be on Saturday, September 15. I'm going this Saturday, September 8 for a fitting of the outfit they asked me to model. The girl on the phone said it's a long wine colored skirt, cream colored top and sweater. This coming Saturday I'm going to the store and try it on to see how it looks and if it fits properly. If it doesn't fit well or I don't like how it looks on me, they can select another outfit for me.

I'm excited at doing the show but at the same time kind of nervous as I never did modeling before. Plus I will be the first transgender girl to ever do this at this particular store. From what I understand, a transgender girl modeled clothes at another Christopher & Banks store a while ago but not at the Asheville store. The sales associate who asked me to model said these shows are usually crowded with a lot of women in the store but she thinks I will be fine. Still I hope no one there at that show has any qualms about a TG girl doing the modeling? Since I am the first transgender girl doing this there I want it to go perfectly and hope everyone there accepts me.

I'll post after the show. I'll ask one of the sales associates there to take some pics of me with my camera. I might try and practice at home next week. Wish me luck! Thanks.

    Steffie

    Hi Steffie,

Of course I wish you good luck.

There are just 4 things to remember and you'll do fine.

    1. Left foot, right foot, repeat
    2. Sway your hips
    3. Smile
    4. Have fun....

In Asheville? I think you'll be okay. There's a lot of us out there. Just relax! Modelling isn't that hard. It's all about poise. Just watch Zoolander the night before and you'll learn everything you need to know about being a model. It'll be fine! Have fun with it. Just remember, they were looking and they chose you. And just think... After this, you can refer to yourself as "the talent." Or just tell people you're a model.

    Oh, yeah... CONGRATULATIONS!!

    I did a show with a theme.
I modeled clothing as a crossdresser.
The theme was. "Even men look good in our clothes."
    The women loved it!

I am soooo jealous! First that you look good enough to be asked to model. And second, that you get to stand in front of a crowd and get all that attention for being you! Good luck. Keep your head up and act as pretty as you feel.
I just couldn't wear my big girl panties today.

Great opportunity but I understand your nervousness. I think you have earned a mani pedi to prep for your debute! I would watch some Fashion Week footage and tone it down a bit. Can't wait to hear gow well it went. Do remember that the company is comfortable with a TG model so they must be confident you will be well received or else they would have asked. Have fun!!

Totally do the show. They would not have asked if they were not certain that you would be a superb model!

Wow, that's awesome! Have fun! Enjoy it! Who cares if some people don't approve, what are they going to do, jump onto the runway and attack you? I think we're all quite jealous.

From one Carolina gal to another....congratulations !!! I think they did a great job of picking you to be their model. If I have time that day I might drive up there and watch the show myself. I know you will do a great job.

You can do this. The very first modeling gig I ever had was a runway show. I showed up as the photographer and they said "Oh, no, we need you to model!" So I stowed my gear and that's how I got started.

I'm curious - are they publicizing the fact that you're transgender? Is that the hook? Doesn't matter to me if it is, that's entirely up to you and if you're OK with that then so am I. But I have not mentioned my trans status to any photographer or organizers of any show or gig. Hasn't been necessary.

And if they do have a problem? Then it's their problem, as far as I'm concerned.
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back keep me here to wait for me so I don't go back out and miss myself when I return.

As far as I know I don't think they are advertising that but I think I'll ask today when I go for the fitting. I would prefer that they would not do that. I wouldn't want to be the "token TG" but rather just be looked at as another girl there. That's all I ever really want. They'll figure out I'm TG I'm sure and I don't see any point to advertise that, in my opinion at least.
