Platform shoes. I have been fighting the urge but I gave in and bought two pairs.

I have been secretly envying all the young gals wearing this very high heeled platform shoes. I tried resisting but I caved in especially when I found the price was right 15.00 and the red pair for 29.00

Why did I fight the urge? I am 5' 9" and so now I can get work at a circus like those Uncle Sams on stilts you find at the circus. I often go to the Borgata casino dressed to the 9s but never wore platform shoes with their extra high heels, but I always watched the ggs with almost invisible mini dresses and platform shoes. I will take pictures when I can.

You're "just" 5'9"? Enjoy the fact that you can wear almost any sort of heels and still look great!

Sounds like fun! Wish I could still wear heels! But those days are behind me! Enjoy!

Those are going to be mighty comfy---not!

Geeze, you're a mere 5'9"? Even rocking those heels you're going to be an inch shorter than I am in flats!

Try being 6'2" and wearing 4" espadrilles! I normally dress to blend but for CD group outings where the group isn't going to pass (Persephone's Law) it's fun to be the head-turner as I stride through a restaurant.

Oooooh, I love them. I have been resisting the urge to get these snake skin heels from VS (second one back from front lace one - I want that too!). My therapist had a pair on and I just love them. I think they go with so much and be great with jeans and slacks too.

I'm 5'10" and wear up to 4" heels out. There are a lot of women taller than us and they wear heels.

I can't wait when I go full time at work so I can be the tall one looking down - maybe a little intimidating but I don't care.

I'm 5' 9" too and I often wear 4" heels, although 3" is my standard, for comfort. I am not comfortable walking or dancing in 5" for any length of time though. When I'm wearing heels I don't see many other women my height, but it doesn't matter. I've noticed that tall girls get a lot of positive attention.

Thanks Eryn, yea I bought them knowing very well that they would require the right time to wear them. I will have to wear them at least once at the Borgata casino with a micro mini skirt before I die...not

I never thought I could like platform heels either (seems like cheating when it comes to heel height?), but after getting used to seeing them and actually wearing them, I really like them.
They do feel a bit different than regular pumps, since there is a rigid block under your forefoot that doesn't flex.

I am fighting the urge for platforms too. I have tried them on in stores a couple times. I am 5-10, and 5" heels make things look different from up there. But I am too old, and don't think I could keep them on for too long, so it's back to the 2" pumps.

I am 5" almost 10" and never have a problem with 4-5" heels. There are a lot of tall women out there these days. I noticed one a few days ago at best buy. She was dressed really nice and she had 4" heels on and wasn't that tall that she towered over everyone. At first I thought it might have been a sister but turned out it wasn't, that or she passed incredibly

I think your going to look great in those heels I tend to buy black myself but I also has a pair in red that go with absolutely nothing I own lol

I'm 5'11" and I'm in 4" heels all the time. At times I'll put on some platforms that ups the ante even a bit more. My tallest shoes bring me up to 6'4"!
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back keep me here to wait for me so I don't go back out and miss myself when I return.

Sometimes you just can't fight a trend, Platforms are here and now. Wearing them in the appropriate place is key, no=at walmart yes=at cocktail party. As I've gotten older, and in the spirit of blending, the heels see less girl time, in favor of wedges, and flats (don't say yuck, ballets are cute). Just this week I've had two occasions to break out the heels, and I was reminded just how %^$# sexy they are. -Celeste

Actually, I have a set that is just like hers and they're not as bad as you'd think! I have some 4" heels that are really nice, but are also a lot more difficult to walk in and more uncomfortable than the 5" platform heels I have.

I love the platform trend. I'm 5'9" and I try to rock the 5" platforms whenever I can. My favorite pair is a pair of nude heels that look killer with a pair of skinny jeans.

I have to agree with the comments that others have made...there seem to be more taller GGs out and about then ever before, and most of them aren't afraid to wear heels. I have a good GG friend who is 6'2", and I've seen her wear the 5" platforms. I'm always surprised how often when going out that even with my shoes I'm not the tallest girl in the place.

I've said before. After 5 feet, just add inches. You're not overly tall when you're 5'17". Learn to accept 'My lord, you're one tall drink of water', as a compliment.-Celeste

I have those same shoes and they are actually really comfortable and very easy to walk in. You shall be fine. I'm about 5'7" and don't feel too tall when I wear them. Hell, last night I ventured out in 6" heels...

Hi Michelle, I see by your picture that you are a pro at wearing platform shoes, and very beautifully I might add.

At that price I would not care how tall they make me! Wow I would get them right away even if I had no where to wear them. I would figure that out later.

I was too young to appreciate Jimmy Hendrix when he was around to fully appreciate his musicianship, don't want to miss the platform trend, though I am probably at the tail end of it.
