Nice story, but:

Your neighbor walks right, is a convicted felon and has served time for breaking and entering...seems or penal system is not doing much to break bad habits.

I'm glad that you have such nice neihbour. I have question about his jury duty. You say he's 81. In Canada there is an age limit, I can't remember exactly but is much lower, perhaps 65 or 70. Would a 100 year-old also be called for jury in the U.S.A? It seems unreasonable.
