How many times have you changed your name?

My girlfriend and I were texting back and forth the other day and her phone auto-corrected something she wrote and made it seem like she was calling me Abby. Which kind of is growing on me and feels more right than Julie. Anyways, it got me curious to know how many times people around here have changed their names.

Hi Julie, I really have no need to change my name.

I picked my name because it had no connection to anyone
past or present it's just my favorite color and flower.

    Dear Abby,
I'm thinking about changing my name to Julie, because it's a beautiful name.
After searching my lingerie drawers, I have come to the conclusion that they lied. Ruffles don't have ridges. At least mine don't.

For a long time I never associated myself with any sort of female name. Then one day in my early 20's I was looking at myself in the mirror and I just knew I had to be called something to match that feminin side of me. I choose the name Sarah, something from my past, and I have never looked back and never regreted having taken that name.

It seems for some that the changing of their name seems to relate to their exploration of themselves. If they learn something new or enter a different level of the exploration, then they might change their name as a result. Of course some change their name as part of their transition. I haven't felt the need. My journey has been pretty linear and I haven't felt like there has been a new me at any point. I am quite happy with it and don't see a need for change.

On a chat site in the '90s I used the name Kat. Resserd (dresser spelled backwards) had been used mostly on internet sites in the last few years, then Dee, yet I just changed my name here to Ressie which is an actual girl's name. I like Dee, but it turned out to be an overused name on this site.

    Once

I used to go by Celeste, but my girlfriend absolutely hated the name and said I sounded like a fancy female escort :P I just liked it because it reminds me of a color ;p But at the same time it's easier to sound like a genetic girl with a more common name in my opinion so this works!! n_n
Allison or Alli was one of the other names that I really liked and she ended up loving it too so here I am with it It shall never be changed again <3

The other ones I had thought about were Erica and Teagan as well

I used to be Crystal, but for going full time I didn't really like the name. So I changed to Candice and added Mae as a middle name, which with my last name sounds like it was meant to be.

I have changed it twice, once was the name I thought I should be in my teenage years, but in my thirty's I name my second daughter it, then I went with Teresa, but it really did fit me too well, so I am very happy with Stacy.

I have thought about it several times, as there are many unique names out there that I fancy, but in the end, I doubt that I would change my name, as it was my first name that I chose for myself, and ppl normally don't go around changing there names the whole time.

Really, only once. I went by the name "Elena" for a while, before I landed on Marla. I kept it as a middle name, though. So now I'm Marla Elena Stein.

I will be requesting a name change soon, when I joined the forum I hadn't given much thought in to a femme name, Sarah was an easy and common name to use. Since I have been accepting this part of me more, I will be changing my name to something that I like more and keep it for a long time hopefuly.

Have had the same feminine name ever since I had need of a feminine name. The 'Dee' part was a necessary addition as my salon already had Robin A, B and C in their database. Hence Robin D or Robindee

    Pretty simple I guess.

    Hugs, just plain Robin

I haven't changed my name, just amended it. "Zelda" was the only choice after a brainstorming session with a friend. "Rose" was a nom de plume I used that sounded like a good middle name.

Yes, middle name. Well, actually, one of them. I never use them, except if I want to sound really pretentious, but they're there as tributes to two friends who were very important in my life. And I do have a last name but I don't use it, though it's known to a few people out there.

I don't particularly like the name "Dawn". I just blurted it out at a CD meeting when someone asked what my femme name was (I didn't have one yet.) But it seems to have stuck and I'm to lazy to change it.

was christened Jennifer by my Aunt at the ripe old age of 10. Never saw a need to change it. I added the middle name Marie when I transitioned.

Many times. The names I choose reflect who I am as a person at any given time. I was originally Heather, then Victoria , then Ericka, then Salandra, then Arianna, then Denise, then Abigail, now Kate. Actually my full name at this time is Katherine Megan Simmons.

With apologies to T S Eliot TGs are very similar to Practical cats. here is the edited version; (change cats to TG and you get it)

When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
    It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter

First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey—
All of them sensible everyday names.

But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
(This is the name you call them... The name only YOU use. This is the name you chose here and it changes with the season, the wind or just on a whim)

But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
    And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover—
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.

When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
The earth is the mother of all people and all people should have equal rights upon it.

    Nez Perce

Lorileah, one of my favorite books and musicals. Never really thought about TG's that way but it does fit.

Never really changed my name after figuring out what it would be, I toyed with Karen Sue, that's what I would have been named if I had been born a girl, but then I decided, I was a grown up, why go with what someone else thought about a child they didn't even know, when I could find something that fit me better, I came up with my name, Tina Lynn Betterman. Tina Lynn is playing with my initials, the Betterman comes from the movie Tootsie " I was a better man as a women than I ever was as a man." That was a choice I made, almost 20 years ago, and it's been my female name every since, I think it would feel strange at this point to change it, I feel it's who I am.
Magic is the art of changing consciousness at will.
