    Useful links

This sticky thread is to allow members to post links to useful information so that it can be easily found by others who may need it.

For example we might have links to
    • The latest WPATH Standards of Care
    • Publications setting out guidelines for health professionals treating transgender patients who are on hormones
    • Websites offering important advice for transitioners
    to name but a few

Any discussion should take place in a separate thread.
Check out this link if you are wondering about joining Safe Haven.

Here is a link to the Social Security Administration that states what is needed in a doctor letter to change gender. A sample doctor letter is also included.

    Some Very Good Info

I forget who posted Dr. Bushong's link but here are the articles I found quite informative:

    http://docbushong.com/knowledge/fem_hormone_results.asp

    http://docbushong.com/pubs/what_is_gender.asp

    http://docbushong.com/pubs/gender_expressions.asp

DISCLAIMER: No I am not a patient of Dr. Bushong, nor have I ever met him.

I found this very interesting, I know personally ever since I knew that I didn't feel how I was told that I should have I have read so much on the subject from a psychological stand point, and looked for physiological causes as well, I guess I was looking for validation that I thought I needed at a younger age, although I don't feel as though I need how I am validated, having more information is helpful in trying to help the less accepting loved ones in our lives who need that validation. I hope some of you find it as interesting as I did. I know that I would be very willing to participate in a study like this one so that we can prove that there is nothing "wrong" with us, it is just how we are from the beginning, and hopefully if it can be identified through DNA steps can be taken to keep children of the future from having to deal with the pain and insecurity of growing up not understanding how they feel inside.

Here are some Trans Hotlines for people that need to talk to someone and may need just moral support or may be desperately depressed:

    http://www.glbthotline.org/

    http://www.itgetsbetter.org/pages/ge...FchffgodkCgEdA

Don't know much about these organizations but the translifeline is recommended by some people in my local trans support group.

For US citizens, the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) has a page on their website with a detailed list of instructions on getting a passport with new name and gender change:
