I'd like to decide on a name, one day I'm Nicola, another Rosemary, help me out pleas

I identify with being pretty as opposed to being sexy or beautiful.
I like restrained, soft, pastel and feminine.
Wearing a feminine cardigan is what defines me and I would be as happy as could be if I could be loved like that.
I also adore anything needlecraft related.
My names have the initials N, P & W. So far I'm thinking:
Nicola, but worried about being referred to as Nicky
Nancy, but maybe it's a bit overdone
    Nadia
    Nana
    Nanette
    Narcissa
    Primrose
Pansy, but same problem as Nancy
Penelope, but actually I prefer Penny and like the knitting reference
    Pamela, and I like Pam
Polly, and I sometimes think I'd like to be Polly Ester
    Patty
    Patsy
    Wendy
Even though they don't have the initials I also like:
    Rebecca, means cardigan in spanish
    Lana, means wool in spanish
    Lilac, favourite colour
Rose, or even maybe Rosemary, favourite colour
    Here's a list of everything I've been contemplating. http://nameberry.com/userlist/view/36710
Please help me decide. Feel free to suggest something else

    Nikki,
If everyone calls you late for dinner you will starve.
    Work on your elegance,
    and beauty will follow.

All I can say is take time and think about it. Only you can choose a name you can be happy with. Im sure most girls here have decided on more than one name before they found the one that fits best. I changed my girl name once. The first time I chose a name I thought sounded cute, then I realized thats all it was. It wasnt me, so I ended up changing it to reflect the boy name my parents gave me.

I think if you whittle down your rather... extensive... list a little, we might stand a chance of being more help..?

Or - close your eyes, imagine you're somewhere quiet and tranquil - a luxurious hotel by a pool, sipping a margarita - the bell hop trots out with a message paging you... what name would you want yourself and everyone else to hear...?

I spent sometime looking at the meaning of names - Bridget seemed a good fit and has worked well for me these past 10 years

I like Nadia, a nice touch of European for a Stateside girl maybe?

Whilst Katey is getting all US. She's definitely been here too long :TamaraCroft:.

Do you have a girl name that you were going to be called had you been born a girl? You might want to consider that.

I always loved the name Melissa. It just never fit, no matter how much I tried or wanted it to. Somewhere along the line "Carla" came into play and it just stuck.

I opted for Ellie when I first thought of a femme name. Then I noticed there were a few Ellies already. The only other Ineke I found was a CA perfume outfit if I recall correctly. And a friend of mine was called that. I thought it was a cute, foreign name so Ineke it is. Few know how to pronounce it, so:

    Ineke (EEnuhkuh)

As an actual Dutch person I approve the EEnuhkuh pronunciation

I think Rosemary sounds restrained, soft, pastel and feminine. Alternatively, you can always name yourself after a British royal if you want a dignified and courteous name: Elizabeth, Victoria, Anne, Mary, etc. etc.

Do wha most Americans do...pick the most popular female celebrity at the moment.

Justine as in Justin Bieber it is then.

Or Jennifer after Jennifer Lawrence. Makes a bit more sense.

Funny one Zylia. As an actual American person, I approve of your suggestions! And thank you for not suggesting Miley

My personal vote is Nana(after the comic. It features two wonderful female leads, one bright and bubbly, while the other is an in-charge, impulsive type of gal. They have a movie too, which is definitely worth a look) That's just my two cents, however.

The right name will come to you My own name, Len Gray, is based off of my two favorite types of hot tea. It's also short for Leonard, which means Brave as a Lion, and Helena, which means Light. I loved the meanings of these two names as well as how I related to the name, so I chose it Simple as that!

No worries about finding the 'perfect' name. When you find it, you'll know

How bout "Patricia"? It is an uncommon name yet is not weird. Kind of like the male name Josh is unusual but not weird.
    For N - Nila perhaps?
I am assuming, based on the list you linked to, that you are 60's or older?

For Petunia or Prudence - BAD choices.
Avoid also cliche names that are used today like - Madison, Addison, Ava, Eva, Eve, Sophia...

Basically your name just has not hit you yet. When it does you will know. Erin hit me one day out of the blue and I have been Erin legally for 3 years now.

Best thing is looking in the mirror and say, Hi My name is ..... and see what looks better and flows better. That way you can feel confident in your presentation

I need to do the same, but I am a major procrastinator. Here is a link to Girl names. Take your time, you will have to live with it until you change your mind, which you are allowed to to now that you are a woman.

Cardy....I can't help you much. I'm Helen sometimes, MarĂ*a others and I flip and flop between them as often as I change shoes....

Part of it is because the name I've used forever in my native language is MarĂ*a Elena so....both Helen and Maria fit individually when u translate MarĂ*a Elena to English but not together. Marie Helen? That does not sound gooood.

    Good luck! LOL!!!
