Today is a good day to Dress!
Hi Rachel,
You've got me confused, if you live in the UK are you struggling to get a television licence as Rachel or does Rachel think she needs a TV licence to be Rachel ? The post office can help you with the first and there may be a download document on this forum for the second ! What a Cder needs a licence for I'm not sure not unless you get discount vouchers at some stores !
I had to get a TV licence, I was fed up with trying to avoid those TV detector vans that they send round the country, very clever as they can not only detect a TV but tell what the TV is showing........................

As applied to CD's...do you need a learner's permit if you only wear 1" heels? At what height do you need to get a full license?
Thankfully I don't have any TV's anymore...mine are all monitors...darn lizards are so hard to keep fed though.
I don't wear women's clothes, I wear MY clothes !
If it's the TV licence I think she meant, have a look at my profile pic. I have temporarily replaced my profile pic with one I made years ago. The website that used to do them unfortunately closed several years ago!
We find it amusing to find that one of our favorite programs, Downton Abbey, is shown in the UK heavily laden with commercials and in the USA with none! Go figure!

This is a new one on me. I'm confused. I bought a TV at Walmart last year, and all I had to do was give them my credit card, not my license.
I detect much sarcasm in the replies to this thread but I have had my TV license for years. While I have never used it, I understand it gets you special treatment when you flash it at venues such as sleazy biker bars, hate group rallies and porn book stores.

Jaylyn,
In the UK if a household has a TV set(s) then a license is required to receive programs. One license covers the household. To transmit TV signals is a whole different kettle of fish. That's covered by all sorts of regulatory requirements.
Who dares wears Get in, get out without being noticed
Thank you Helen. I really hope this doesn't get out here in the US as really can't afford another dang license. My bills are expensive enough. I guess even at my ripe old age one can still learn a lot. Lol who'd ever think of a TV License.
Hey Ally I love your TV License may have to get one to get into my sleazy bar and porn club....lol... Is there a test one has to take to obtain one?..... Lol

I'm confused. Very confused. What does a TV license have to do with crossdressing?
So, if I wasn't British and didn't know better - by now, I might be asking...
When you say a TV set, is that like having a Barbie, Office casual, Cowgirl, Sporty, Clubby ....?
And all in one place - and how do you know when you have the full set...?

OK I read the link. That's pretty screwed up and intrusive. Government out of control. It makes the USA look a lot better. Here they just tax our cable bills.
Krisi that's the price we pay for no commercial breaks , most of the time I think it's worth it, and the BBC has given us all some of the best programs over the years.

We need a license to watch TV now?
What is the world coming to?

]The funny thing is in the UK, you DO, need a a license to watch television!

"Normal is what you get when you average out the weirdness that everybody has." Quote from my SO
Normal is a setting on a washing machine, or another word for average.
The fact that I wear a skirt as a male should not be taken as a comment on what you do, or do not wear, or how you wear it.
Tv is something you watch when you are bored and a tranny is that thing that makes your car shift gears and go. They both cost money when they go out. As for us transgender and transexual folks. We dont need a license to be who we are. Maybe some guidance and some counseling but no permission slip.

In addition to the UK, in Norway you also have to pay a TV license if you own a box that can receive TV signals. Currently it is about $450 a year.
As Teresa says, most of the time it's worth it. It's less stressful not to be on guard to hit the mute button whenever a commercial abruptly starts.
I pay for my TV licence so that I can operate my LCD TV full time
When I was a student a TV licence inspector actually entered our student house and found a TV set. But since it was strategically disconnected from the mains and aerial socket we insisted that it was not in use and the "owner" of the set had moved out. The inspector left without doing anything.
Wait do I have to get a license if I have a tv but it's not plugged in? It's just an extra one lying around. Damn government always trying to get more of out money.
You only need a licence if you "possess" a television set.
You can watch it for free as long as you don't loiter.
There is another law covering that.
Work on your elegance,
and beauty will follow.
Is there a test for the TV license? How many questions, and where do I study for it.
I just renewed my CDL, does that count for anything? There where 100 Questions on that test,
and I got a 98% on it. It takes a good 2 hours to take that test; + the driving test.

Again...there IS a such thing as as State issued ID card here in the U.S.
I was told by a very well known TS woman recently that I can go to my DMV office
and get an ID card with a picture of myself dressed however I please.
I have to use the same info on my drivers license (Real name), but the picture can
be whatever I want it to be.
She'd suggested it out of the blue, so I don't know much about it, but also I don't
have any reason to think she was kidding about it.
I'd heard of this before, but never checked into whatever reason someone may
have to do it. She did seem to say it wasn't any big deal to get it.
(assuming I have the nerve to go to a crowded DMV office dressed to the 9's...lol!)
So there's a legal state issued equivalent of a "CD/TV/TG license"...if someone wants
one.
(At least nobody is likely to attack us in a place full of State Troopers....)
Is this true? I believe so.
