    CDing and the Internet

Casually browsing Reddit when I think "maybe there's a good CD subreddit I can get involved in"

so I do a search only to find the the only active subreddits are those who treat CDing as simply a sexual fetish and nothing more, while the others that approach the subject in a similar manner to this forum are squashed into obscurity.

I suppose it might be a teeny-tiny bit better than the "Buffalo Bill" image or the "purely for comedy" approach to CDing...but this still infuriates me.

    Anyone else?

    Angela,
Don't let it infuriate you, some do not understand, others have no idea and as for the rest.......

Of course there are haters and antagonists as well.

Stay away from the minefield and you wont get hurt.

There's a place on the internet for everybody, even the jerks.
For years I hoped I was just a CDer but now I realize I am transgender and that's alright.

Unfortunately, Angela, you don't always need to go as far as Reddit... We have enough threads on here historically to prove that there's quite a following everywhere for the fetish aspect of CDing... But we're here to support all aspects of this, not just one part...

Personally, I like to think we're a touch more artsy and intellectual about the way we look at this from a CD perspective - and, of course, we do also count amongst us those of the TG/TS sorority to whom it is just simply about being who they need to be... as well as GGs, SOs, others... We very inclusive!

Does it infuriate me? Not really... I assuage any niggardly feelings by just believing that we're better people in the broadest sense... We're here to help, advise and support folk (as well as entertain..?) and not just to assist some T-chaser in getting their thrill...
Thank goodness we're here! (Big Group Hug and Collective Mutual Pat on Back for everyone... )

So there's no place in the world for those of us that enjoy cross dressing as a sexual fetish? Nice to know how "tolerant" some people in "our" community are. Just because some people don't have the sexual aspect of dressing doesn't mean you should be condescending towards those that do. It takes all kinds, but apparently it is very evident that some of us aren't welcome.

It's not the fact they exist that bother me, it's the fact that they are far and away the most prominent portrayal of CDers on such a popular website (a pattern that's followed on most of the mainstream outlets) and the one's for discussion etc have been long dead.

Thank goodness I've found this place, and I know that somewhere like this does exist!

Maybe it's the most prominent portrayal of cross-dressers because most cross-dressers are in fact in that 'sexual fetish' group? I'm not trying to invalidate anyone's (personal) experience on this board, but this community and its stories do not really represent the general cross-dressing crowd.

UNDISPUTED FACT: Almost everyone here, at least "passed through" that "awful, disgusting, guilt ridden, shame inducing" phase... but MOST got "wiser, older and smarter" with age and now they just luvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv the "feeling" of having the clothes on and now they "know better" than to use women's clothing articles as "mere tools". Tools no different than men's magazines or Porn.

Duh. It's called CONDITIONING. There was once a man by the name of Pavlov...

Searching the web is just like that Remote Conrtol thingee for your TV. YOU have full control over it.

And getting upset over the REALITY of #S is non productive. THIS very site plasters various #s everywhere for those seeking the truth.

The real crux of the matter here is that the why/where ANY thrill or enjoyment comes from [for us Humans] is IRRELEVANT as long as no one is breaking any laws.

Or is it that the vocal minority are driving the perception? What I think are actually the typical cross dressers, are boring: I went out to dinner. I went shopping. I went to the mall. I took a walk. Not too exciting, really.

You know WAH, not everything comes down to sexual conditioning. When I was 15 I got excited by just about everything, including the knot holes in a fence. Cause it was a hole! Including watermelons, cause they had the word melons in it, and you know melons are another word for boobs. Hee-hee! What isn't exciting to a teenage boy? That would be a better discussion.

To the OP - I started my blog specifically because when I typed cross dresser into Google, I hated the results that came up, because just about anything and everything had a sexual element to it. And I agree with Jennifer. I do think a very vocal minority is driving the perceptions and that typical cross dressers are boring!

CDing is fundamentally a fetishistic activity whether it is sexual or not. The origin of the word 'fetish' refers to a object that has magical powers. CDs use women's clothing because they feel these objects have some kind of transformative quality. Women don't feel this way about their clothing. It's just harder for us sexual fetishists to delude ourselves about what is really going on.

Which groups did you look at?

Because I find the /r/crossdressing sub-reddit quite okay actually. It has a different vibe than this place.. but I like it as well.

    Hi Angela,

I hear what you are saying and there aren't too many places I could get involved with either. However, I just don't bother stopping there and I don't let it get me down either.

Definitely started on the fetish line for me but I'm not overly keen to post pics of me in said occupation either, but some do. Whatever floats your boat!

I agree with Zylia. This forum is rather like a cocoon.

As an experiment, use Google. When you enter the search terms "crossdresser support" Google returns 2,710,000 results (as of today, in my browser). But, when you enter "crossdresser sex", there are 23,400,000 websites, which is 9 times more! If you take it that websites follow demand, this tells you that nine crossdressers out of ten seek porn and sex on the internet.

I too believe this is true. Crossdressing has been expanded on and the basic has been widen to encompass valid interest that surpass the title and practice.

I actually found this site while looking for crossdress literotica...but I am happy to see that there is a forum that could help guide me into being somewhat non-sexual about cross dressing

I'm with everyone here who thinks this forum is the minority and the majority are the fetish type. I'd also suggest HERE is the more vocal forum as the others do a lot less debating and care a lot less about public opinion. As the others pointed out, Google search etc does the math for us.

Makes sense though - it's been estimated as high as 5 - 10% of men indulge some form of crossdressing yet I don't see that many out and about - I'm lucky to spot even one in a busy city street! And no, I don't think it's because you're all that good at passing, lol. I think it's because the other 90% are indulging at home like you would any other sexual past time.

I guess u spend a lot of time out meeting CD's, Jenn? To generalize about us so easily? 7 years ago, when I came out of the closet and arrived here? I wondered what members of cd.com were like in real life. I jumped on a plane and attended the SCC in Atlanta. Where I met a large number of cd.com members that I chatted with here and many others, too. They weren't all CD's of course. Quite a number were trans and some of those I met have gone on to complete their journey into womanhood.

Since then? I have attended 3 more SCC's, 4 DLV's in Vegas, and gone out to meet quite a few T/CD's in clubs nearby. While I'm not certain which ones r/were T's or CD's, I can say by en large, they r ALL remarkable people. As far as being boring? I would say they r like men everywhere. Some r self starters no matter how they dress and others r quiet and reserved.

What I tell my daughters when they say they r bored? "Then, maybe you're boring? Because some people, (me), r rarely ever bored!"

That is an excellent point, Tink! As an admitted, "fetish CD", not only don't I need to go out dressed? I avoid it whenever possible! The only reason I do it at all, is to meet my T friends.

U can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect to enjoy life to the max. When u try new things, even if they r out of your comfort zone, u may experience new excitement and growth that u never expected.

Challenge yourself and pursue your passions! When your life clock runs out, you'll have few or NO REGRETS!
