Hi everyone:
I'm a fan of Mike Rowe. He hosted a show on the Discovery channel called "Dirty Jobs." Not long ago he announced he was starting a new show on CNN called "Somebody's Gotta Do It," and as part of the launch, he unveiled a sing-along theme song and invited fans to film their own version of it, and send it in.
As a lark, I sang it as Tina and submitted, thinking I'd get a nice, polite rejection letter.
Well ...
Tonight on his Facebook page - a page with nearly 1.8 million fans - Mike published his early favorites, and there I was!
HOLY COW!
Luckily it's not a competition and there's no voting. Some of the comments have been pretty sweet (a few not so sweet, like, "The chick with the uke is a DUDE!" No kidding?!) I'm hoping this all blows over with not much ado, but Mike is hinting that he wants to use various videos for his show, instead of one. As in, a new one each week. So there's a chance Tina will be singing on CNN.
HOLY COW!
By the way, Mike described my version as, "a mesmerizing torch song." I know he's a sarcastic guy (one of the reasons I'm a fan!), but it was a fun thing to read.
Here's the link to the song on Youtube: http://youtu.be/6T1k2iQxhCE
