Hi all
Juat had to share my experience...
I am business tripping in Cape Town, so I took advantage of the opportunity to dress.
I checked into the hotel, did a bit of work and then dressed.
Leaving the hotel room was very scary... Scarier than leaving home dressed somehow. But I made it out without incident although I did have to walk past one guest in the passage who had just arrived. I seemed to not attract too much attention...
I went to a local touristy shopping mall where I picked up some presents for my little girls.
In the toy store the (male) sales assistant said 'good evening mam' and asked if I needed help.
I demurely refused.
After getting the toys I paid and was again 'mammed' by a different person (female).
I paid by credit card and she got a good look at it... It says 'MR...' on it.
She seemed confused but said nothing.
I then went to a local revue bar specialising in drag acts.
I think I confused even them at first. I did stand out being a woman out on my own, but was always referred to as a woman/lady.
My waiter was very attentive and made me feel very comfortable.
The drag queen was giving all the tables a bit of stick... When she came to me I seemed to have her fooled UNTIL she made me talk. Then the cat was out of the bag. Although she was very polite and sweet, making a very nice comment to detract attention away from me.
Afterwards she came up to me, we chatted and she said she was glad I came and that I had a lot of courage etc...
I just had a lovely evening out...
In came back to my hotel room without incident and wrote this missive.
BLISS
