    A Realisation of sorts

I am Bobbi G, initially the crossdresser. and now the transgender female. In 2007, when I first joined, I was so far in the closet I was nearly in the next room. I would keep a bag of clothes int my truck and leave the house very early (4 AM), find a parking lot somewhere and change in the car and just drive around for a couple hours, and then reverse the process.

Around 2009 or 2010, my wife of 38 years left me and, at her request I filed for divorce. And in 2011 I started living as a single male, with what I thought was a secret. I had signed up with the Veteran's Administration because I could and they have a program to help with gender issues. Around this time my job transferred me to another location and I started living my life and female full time. I just had to do something. My primary doctor asked me why it took me so long to enroll ( '61-'67 US Navy and '66-69 DOD). Also asked me why I was there, and I stated I had some internal issues and thought I needed some professional help. Was referred to a Psychiatrist who then referred to a gender specialist. I had been living and presenting as female at the time of these appointments, and her first question to me was, What would I prefer being called, and from then on I was Bobbi.

At the end of only 3 sessions she asked me 3 questions, how old are you, at the time 70, how long have you felt this way, at least 50 years, and what are we waiting for. She referred me to an endocrinologist, ordered my first blood test and got me started on the medications I needed.

Now, between 72 and 73, I am recognized as female by the Federal, State, and local governments. I was born the end of August so I am getting ready to celebrate my two month birthday. Now starts the second phase of my new life and am so looking forward to it. I try to be a positive representative of our community and am more than willing to assist any persons following this course.

I lost a dear friend who chose the ultimate solution for a temporary problem this past year, and if I can prevent this from happening to anyone else, I will have done what I think I was put on this earth to do.

Thanks to all who are willing to read this mini novel, I appreciate all of you

Oh, yes my legal name is now E. Bobbi Gxxxxxx.

Congratulations on your journey. It's been a long road, but you seem happy with where you're at...honestly, that seems like not enough said.

OMG I thought the world had come to an end when my wife of 25 years walked out the door. I just can't imagine it ending after 38 years. Best of luck to you.

I used to believe this, now I'm in the company of many tiggers. A tigger does not wonder why she is a tigger, she just is a tigger.

Bobbi, that is both inspiring and I'm certain, reassuring for those who come to similar conclusions late in life...

And a very positive message that aligns with why so many of us keep coming back here and try to offer support and acceptance for those that need it most. Well done all of us that do!

Good luck for your new phase...
