Hi all:
I wanted to share this fun little story from Halloween. I dressed as, well, mostly me (Tina), but I glammed up a bit with a pinkish wig, choker, pink dress and crinoline and purple lip gloss. Sweet Baby Cakes and I were at our small town Halloween carnival with our dogs - two mini poodles - when three little Frozen princesses and their moms approached. The girls, all around 3 years old, I'g guess, wanted to pet our dogs, so the moms asked permission.
Our littlest poo is a bit skittish, but wouldn't ever snap, so I said sure, but crouched down to the kids' level to keep our puppy calm.
That's when the littlest princess stopped and stared into my eyes. She got lost in my face for a few tics, then finally asked me, "Are you wearing a costume?"
Wow! It maybe is the nicest thing anyone has ever said about me. I teared up a bit, actually.
But pulling myself together, I responded, "Kind of. Are you wearing a costume, or are you really a princess?"
She laughed and said it was a costume. So I said, "Well, I bet your mom thinks you're actually a princess. So maybe yours is only kind of a costume, too!"
I left it at that. I'll let her folks handle gender questions. But hopefully I started them off on the right path.
But that girl not being sure whether my look was the real me, or a costume, is a moment I will treasure forever.
Thanks little princess!
