Wife said she would go with me

Last night my wife and I were laying in bed and I told her that I would really like to go out fully dressed. I mentioned to her I could go by myself or she could go. She said that she would like to go with me but had two concerns one being where and the other where was I going to dress. She said hope not at home and I said can understand that but where I don't have a clue so does anyone know of cross dresser bars in Houston. So now at least I am starting to have a plan to go out for the first time.

Get a motel to get dressed in, then message PaulaQ on this forum, about where to go. She lives in the gayborhood, and is an activist for us.

As far as finding a place to dress I would check into a decent hotel/motel with your wife for a get away weekend. I would select a hotel that has room access from a parking lot if you're worried about being seen, i.e., not through a lobby.

Just go to a mainstream location. Diner, movie, whatever. You needn't limit yourself to CD bars and drag shows. It's far more fun in the mainstream world

I'll add that you should tell your wife to try and not worry about you. You are "out" and that is on you. She should try to relax and let the evening come rather than looking for dangers. It's hard on the wife the first time

I thought the purpose of the outing was to be seen.

I agree with Jennifer. Maybe a motel to get dressed in, but being out in public helps to normalize things. My wife and I eat at Applebees frequently when we're out together. We just don't go to the local one where they know me drab.

I agree with Jennifer, go mainstream shopping at the Galleria, a museum, a nice meal and/or entertainment (play, concert or movie).

All good advice, and remember to take it at her pace. Once she feels uncomfortable, it's time to head back to the hotel and make sure you thank her for being an amazing woman and wife. Flowers on Monday would be a great idea as well, maybe a bouquet for both of you?

I agree about dressing in a motel or hotel. Also, go to another town or the other side of town if you or your wife are concerned about being recognized. Your presentation should make you unrecognizable but if a friend or relative recognizes your wife and comes up to talk it could be uncomfortable.

As for where to go, do you normally go to "gay" bars? If not, I suggest going to mainstream places. You don't turn "gay" when you strap on your boobs and wig.

Go as two sisters or girlfriends (not lovers) and enjoy yourselves.

This is great! Get ready on your own and go have your make up done by a specialist to make sure you look your best on this first time out with your wife. The more you "pass" as 2 friends out together, the more she'll feel confident in going out with Michele again in the future. I've done that with my GG friends (my SO doesn't support my CDing) and we've had wonderful evenings.
