    WOW!...What a Weekend!

Please indulge me. I just wanted to share the new experience I had this past weekend. 6 months ago I would never have believed I would have done this in a million years. Anyway, thanks to this site, I became aware of an event called the Detroit Invasion. I have noticed that a few of our members also attended this event last weekend. Thanks to this site, over the past few months, I have gotten the courage to venture out to malls and to browse department stores and make purchases while in fem attire. But the weekend in Detroit would take me to a whole new level. It would entail going into regular public places (a casino, dance clubs, restaurants) and mingle with "regular" guys and gals. For the past two months I wavered between going or chickening out. I finally decided it was now or never. It was a 6 hour drive on Friday to get to Detroit. Of course I left late, got stuck in bad traffic, and couldn't find my hotel. As a result I arrived with barely enough time to check-in, throw on my clothes, slap on some makeup as best I could and get to the meeting place in order to board the "party bus" to head to the casino. It was probably a blessing in disguise. I had no time to have second thoughts and get cold feet. I barely arrived in time and before I knew it I was actually on a bus with about 40 other CDers, TGs, and TSs. Next thing I know I am walking into the MGM casino in a short black mini and 4" heels with hundreds of people staring at us as we walked in. As I said...."Not in my wildest dreams". Well, of course, our group was immediately "outed" as it was rather obvious that we were not a group of 40 good-looking GGs. But nobody cared and we all felt comfortable since we were such a large group. And most people were amused with our presence. We had several GGs come up to us and ask to take their picture with us. But what fun it was. We gambled and danced until 1am.
But we still had another day to go. And I am getting too old to do back-to-back party nights. But the next day I sucked it up and got ready again at a more leisurely pace. After my experience on Friday night, I was really excited about our Saturday night. I also had my makeup applied by a GG who is a Mary Kay consultant so I looked fabulous. I wore a LBD with new 4" black pointed-toe heels. On Sat. night I met another CD and we split off from the group. This night we went to the trendy area of Ferndale with many bars and restaurants. Just the two of us walked about 4 blocks to a restaurant. I was so exhilarated to walk in Fem down a sidewalk and not be noticed. The two of us both blended quite well and we must have passed about 100 people on our way. Got to the restaurant and had a nice dinner. Again, nobody seemed to notice. My first experience in a public restaurant. Then we met the group back at a popular TG nightclub and danced til 2am. And I was in my heels for 10 straight hours with no discomfort. It was so exciting. And then, like in Cinderella, the clock struck 2am and it was all over.
I am just now coming down from the "high". The polish is off my toes, my fingernails are back clipped short, and I am back in my flat drab shoes and back to my male life. Somewhat depressing. And now I am fearful that I may never recapture the thrills and excitement I experienced this past weekend.
Thank you all for your indulgence regarding this long post but I had to tell somebody. And if it weren't for this website and all of you girls' support I would NEVER have attempted this. So thank you all for allowing me to have this great experience.

Hi, Courtney. Great story. You really did it, jumped into the deep end. Excellent. My out in public trip has been much slower. I did go to Divas Las Vegas last year. One of the biggest thrills was arriving at the casino, under the awning with the bright lights, in a short dress and heels. Take care.

Courtney, it was great meeting you and being a part of your exciting weekend. We know all too well how amazing these quarterly outings can be. We all had more fun together than any of us could have alone. Thanks for your part in making Detroit TG Invasion MK V a memorable experience.

    Best wishes

Samantha Rogers sure knows who to throw a party, right Courtney!? I've yet to attend a Detroit Invation (on my bucket list), but I did attend Lake Erie Gala last fall. It was my first time out with more than 3 of us and I had a 5 day blast!
If any one is interested, there is one of the biggest gatherings in early March in Harrisburg, Pa. It's called Keystone and its 4 days of seminars, vendors, and outings! Plus they have a "debutant" program if you've never gone out before!
I'm all signed up and will be there to have a great time as Heidi! Find Keystone info at http://www.keystone-conference.org/

And if you can't make Keystone, there are several other events through out the year. Get out there and have some fun like Courtney did.

    Hi Courtney,
So happy for you! What a great experience. Something tells me that if you had the courage to attend that event there will be others in your future
I plan to attend something similar down the road within the next year or so. So what about pictures? I'm dying to see some
