Nervous About Flying....

It's been a while since I have flown anywhere and next week I'm flying from Canada to Nevada. I am planning to fly in sudo drab to keep my first flight simple but will be wearing more neutral clothing. I am debating on weather to pack everything as a checked bag or bring some essentials in a carry on, namely forms, gaff, clothes, swimwear and a few other must haves.

I would welcome and tips, tricks, advices or any thing really from those in the know. Last night I only got an hour of sleep because I could not stop thinking about it.

I talked to one who was flying home and she said that she was going home in fem. I think going androgynous won't be a problem and going all fem would not be a problem either. LOL I went on a trip and only packed my girl clothes. We drove and went in girls clothes and came back that way. But I would pack forms and other stuff in a checked bag. Things like your swimwear is fine on a carry on.

Having spent 50 of my 76 years flying for a living, only on rare occasion could I fly partially in FEM.

When flying, my baggage does not fit with my identity at all.

A pair of trousers, a shirt and all the rest could belong to my wife.

Last time I flew, I didn't have to deal with the TSA, as it was only within Canada, but there was a security screen, including am x-ray scanner. I pulled out my pacemaker card to by pass it, as I don't feel they are totally safe. This meant I got an extended pat down. I was offered a private room, but said it was no problem. I felt a bit on display, but mostly it was funny, as the guy doing the pat down obviously felt a bit embarrassed doing a pat down on a guy in a skirt. Only issue I could see is if you had a bra with underwire in your carry on. If they associate the bag with you, they might wonder why a guy had wired clothes in "his" bag.

If you are traveling in the USA enfemme it should not really be a problem, review the TSA guide for trangender passenger screening and try to get that in your mind ahead of time. Heck print if you want to, there is a statement in there that say's the agent is not to comment on your gender or presentation.

It says also to be sure to use the same ID at the check point so that it matches your airline ticket passenger name.

Obviously I over simplified things a bit here, if you are traveling with DT pads or breasts forms it may be a good idea to carry those items in your carry on and go the ladies room to finish getting things together after you clear security.

I travelled earlier this year in femme with no issues, so it can be done much to my surprise.

Yes, don't have an underwire bra on for sure! Remember that anything in your carry on can be searched and I've had them do it in front of the other passengers, so I like to pack my girly things in checked baggage. Less hassle anyway.

As far as dressing en femme, the TSA won't hassle you, but if the fat, sweaty, guy sitting next to you rubbing his arm against your form figures out you're a guy, he might refuse to sit there.

In those instances, if a passenger is offensive to the other passengers, the captain has the right to force anyone off the aircraft. Even so, I would be very hesitant to do that as the captain as it WOULD result in a lawsuit. Worst case scenario, I think the flight attendant would try to reseat you. At any rate, the whole situation would be very embarrassing.

So, I think it would be fun to fly en femme, but until I had the seats filled next to me I would be very nervous. There are so many paranoid people in this world. That being said, I've read several times here where girls have flown into the sunset smiling away. good luck, either way.

According to TSA regs, wearing your forms through screening and on the plane is perfectly legal, and numerous gurls on this forum with flying fem experience confirm that.

Don't worry about what you have in your checked baggage or in your carry on baggage. As long as it doesn't breach regulations about fluids and flammables etc., it is no problem and if TSA picks your bag to search thoroughly they will just find a lot of feminine clothing and they are too busy to start checking on the identity of the owner. Not that it would matter anyway.
A TSA bag checker told me they got used to finding all sorts of odd but legal things in checked bags. Some people would pack their pornographic magazines on top of their clothes and that is the first thing the TSA operative would see. A bra or two would not even raise and eyebrow.

I have under dressed on numerous occasions and not had real problems at security. The x-Ray scanner has detected my bra a time or too and I got a polite pat down with the back of the officers hand. The stuff in my carry on or checked bags has never been an issue.

I check it all in and when the TSA or whoever cut the locks to search my bag, I know they have.

I have lost six cheap locks this way and no other trouble.

If you take it as carry on baggage they look at the forms and look at your form as well..... :-)

I have on multiple occasions found a notice from TSA in the bag saying that they inspected it.

It would be interesting to share your experiences, if possible. You would be going through Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) screening, US and Canadian Customs, and TSA screening on your flights. You hopefully will not have problems but may experience different regulations and screening procedures.

I did call the CATSA and got some advise and information from them and will definitely report back on hoe things went. I'm gonna keep things simple and present as a male for flying but will be packing no male clothes or wearing any just nothing overly feminine for the flights. My evaluation of worst case is they want to open my carry on and that can be done in private so I'm omitted to a person or two in the airport. Only bringing clothing forms and essentials in my carry on all of which are approved items.

Does the ruling on liquid containers pose any particular problem ?

If a GG has had breast surgery and is using forms or implants does she have to declare it ? I appreciate the law is changing but does it create problems for members of our community choosing to wear forms . I haven't been in this situation but I would be inclined to accept most femme stuff would go in the checked bag. I guess this problem won't only be at airports as the recent events in France and Belgium have shown !

I don't believe so as forms are considered a medical device and are exempted as per my phone call with them, though TSA might say different than there Canadian counterpart.

Well the flight down to Vegas was a lot easier than I thought. Had a very feminine look to my clothing and appearance and though I didn't have makeup, forms, a bra or a wig on I did have my eyebrows very much shaped with an arch to them and pink nails for my flight.

Customs did not bat an eye and only asked the standard questions and I was on my way. As for security my first carry on passed no problem but they did search my backpack by hand. I was very up front and stated the reason I wanted it to be private was I was TG and had forms in my bag and was very much accommodated by them. The search was done very quickly and professionally and I was on my way. I was also very much supported by the management.

What at I did learn was that it had to be search only because the forms were near my charging cables that were in a bag and they needed to verify they were not a problem being together. They were very helpful and suggested that I pack them around clothing and move the cables and electronics to another bag which should allow both bag to pass with ease like the first bag did.

I'll I let everyone know how the trip back to Canada goes on the 18th.

Well the flight back was just as easy. Though I flew totally as me with makeup and forms. Didn't use my wigs though the whole trip as I found a cute way to style my hair which looked way better. Had no issues with TSA or with customs on the Canadian side. Other than a few looks from some people it was easy as flying in drab.

If anyone want more details on what I did or anything like that please PM me. I was nervous both on the way down and back give how I flew which was new to me both times and after lots of searching and reading hope I can help the next person wanting to claim the skys and fly true to themselves.

I use cable ties to lock my checked luggage. The only way to gt them off is to cut them. I try to use a color that is hard to duplicate so I can always tell if my back hs been opened.

Breast forms are "medical equipment" in the US, and are permitted regardless of rules about fluids.

I usually take my CPAP (for sleep apnea) on flights. It is also medical equipment, and the separate bag I carry it in doesn't count against my carry-on limit. I do declare it, because they are allowed to inspect it, but they never have. I guess they're used to CPAPs.

What at I did learn was that it had to be search only because the forms were near my charging cables that were in a bag and they needed to verify they were not a problem being together.

There was a six-month period where I was checking a small suit case full of wires, tools and other electronic equipment. I was sure it would be searched, so I made a copy of my FAA contractor's badge and a note that I was on assignment to test FAA equipment. I still don't think that bag was opened.
