I keep Id with me at all times, dressed or drab.

One other thing to keep in mind- in my work, I've traveled to michigan, and have been stopped for a traffic infraction. Michigan is exceptionally anal about having out-of-state people posting a bond, if you're stopped for a traffic infraction. This bond HAS to be IN CASH. No checks, no credit cards. Their bond is $100 dollars. I don't know if other states are like this. I was lucky enough to have the cash handy when it happened, and I did NOT get it back. (A true case of highway robbery!) So, keep this in mind as you travel long distances. It may ruin your day, but it may save you from visiting the local jail.

I believe my driver's license id ample id and carry it whenever I go out en femme. Even though I present as Jill, my id has my actual name, address and other information that may be of use in an emergency

I switched from carrying a thick wallet in my back pocket, which kept throwing my back out, nine months ago, after repeated admonitions from both my GP and chiropractor to switch to a bag or purse. I carry a small purse with all my ID, including my licenses, credit and insurance cards, etc. wherever I go. So whether I am en femme or en drab I have everything. And if push comes to shove, the government has my fingerprints on file (because of the military, jobs I have held and other licenses I hold). And I have traveled en femme in several states using my driver's ID and credit cards at restaurants and hotels.

I transfer my ID and the cards that I think I might use to my femme wallet. Then I put my guy wallet and its remaining contents in the bottom of my purse in case I overlook something that I normally carry. I have used my guy name credit cards in femme mode without incident.

Many thanks for all your replies, I can see most are more concerned about lack of identification when driving, most of that is now covered in the UK with the computerised system, a scan of the license plate will reveal all documentation is correct including insurance and registered owner.
The point I was making was actually at the venue away from your vehicle, I had very little evidence of who I was and where I came from if I was incapacitated ,the group I attend only requires a femme name to sign in. Almost anonymous, but I did realise it was a mistake !

Just as a point of information, the Veterans Administration health care cards now have photo identification on them, and if anyone gets into a hassle over their drivers' license ID, those make good backup if you're eligible.

Just a little fyi, here in Texas we are actually required by law to have some form of official ID with us at all times, although I don't think a lot of people are aware of that. I'm not sure whether it has to be a photo ID or not. This came up once at local club, where it's common practice if you want to run a tab you have to hand over a credit card to the bartender to hold til you pay out. Well, one night when I ordered my first drink and asked to run a tab the bartender requested my drivers license as well as a credit card. I happened to be sitting beside the bar owner and gently pointed out to her that taking my license was actually breaking the law, since I'm required to keep that ID on my person. Well of course that prompted a flurry of smart phone googling at the bar, which confirmed my point, and that was the end of that bar policy then and there.

I only mention this cuz I know some gurls like to obtain and carry some sort of femme ID (perhaps even credit cards etc), but unless it's official, they are technically in violation and would probably be faced with a hassle in any interaction with law enforcement. And practically speaking, I can't think of any good reason a gurl shouldn't have all the ID stuff she would need if out as a guy. You never know when and what you'll need, and besides, no one's gonna be seeing it unless they go snooping around in your purse. Presenting in public is already complicated enough, no reason not to be prepared for life's little surprises. Just sayin.

Tracii, I think some of us are very paranoid, and hyper vigilant, because of tramatic childhoods, and bullying in school, then on jobs. I know, that every time i go in public, i go through a lot of mental, and emotional gymnastics, and each time, is just like the first time all over again. That is just me. I am still having to deal with my bullying, gultripping , drama causing older twin brothers. 62 years of mental, emotional abuse, still going. I hope i can move away from here before summer is over.

Often local courts require cash deposits from out-of-state travelers because the motorist's state of residence doesn't have reciprocity with the state where the offense occurs. Usually, that reciprocity takes the effect that if the motorist doesn't show for court, or pay the fine by mail, his/her the state where the offense occurred notifies the residence state, which then will issue a notice of suspension. Getting a license suspension lifted is expensive proposition. Many courts will not accept credit cards or personal checks for payment of fines at anytime, even from residents.

I don't know where it is a law in Nevada. I do know if you don't have one in casino they will ask you to leave and if you don't the law will be called. And if you can't prove to them who you are they might lock you up until they find out.
