My very first real public outing!

OK girls, this coming Monday and Tuesday night will be my first real public appearance as Scarlett. On Monday night I will do my first mall visit and then a 9 o'clock movie. In regards to the mall, I will be going into each anchor store, Wet Seal, (the Sephora Makeup Store for some honest feedback - no makeover), Victoria's Secret, Ross, and maybe have a seat in the sitting area in the middle of the mall with a book or magazine to read or go to the food court - not to eat but to just sit observe and see what happens. Then to our local movie theater to watch a 9 o'clock movie. On Tuesday night, I'll be going to TJ Max, a high end grocery store, and Barnes and Nobles to look for books and maybe hang out in the coffee shop area.

I am a big fan of skater skirt outfits and plan on wearing them on both times out. Here are a few photos of what I'll probably wearing and if I talk to someone, I'll use my regular voice instead of trying to fake a female voice. The outfits I'll wear. in my own opinion,- are very comfortable, cute, sexy, and I think classy as well. One of them is the outfit I have in my profile picture. The booties or boots I'll wear fit great and are very easy to walk in.

One of my girl friends from this forum has given me some excellent tips. She's a real pro with public appearances and has hundreds of them under her belt. If you would like to offer up some tips of your own, please feel free to give me some feedback. Photos of what I'll probably wear are here with this post! Thanks a bunch girls for any tips for my trips. I'm excited, confident, comfortable in my Scarlett skin, and looking forward to such a fun and positive experience.

Thanks, girls, for reading my post and providing any tips if you'd like...Sincerely Scarlett

You look great and shouldn't have any problem blending. Maybe fending off a few guys. Have fun. Take care, Brenda

Scarlett honey you are going to do great you look great and your outfits will blend nicely.
Just be yourself but maybe with what I call a bit of feminine flare. Shoulders back walk slowly and with confidence act and know you belong. It's a cliche but it works, just own it.
Good luck my friend, Rachael Leigh

Hi Scarlett,

I must admit, I'm a little jealous. I haven't been out in a while and probably won't get out again for another month or so. That being said, as Mikell mentioned, confidence is key. Own it, but above all - have fun!

Beth

p.s. I think you look great!

You're going to be great, Scarlett.
Wait, what? You're not going to Lloyd Center, where you could, you know, actually skate in that skirt?

I am so new to this, not dressing but the thought of being out in public. I would need coaching to get it right and I don't know how to get that. This site is certainly a good start. Thanks girls!

Very cute look but not sure about blending. Is that what your average unescorted woman wears to the mall in your area? (You have to understand where I live we're at the part of the year where we marvel at the unseasonable warmth if we encounter water in the liquid state. To blend here you have to show up wrapped in a freshly-killed tauntaun. ) I think you'll attract some attention -- not bad if that's your goal.
I am not a woman; I don't want to be a woman; I don't want to be mistaken for a woman.
I am not a man; I don't want to be a man; I don't want to be mistaken for a man.
I am a transgender person. And I'm still figuring out what that means.

Good luck. As an experienced CD going out among the "normals" just be yourself, carry yourself with pride, act like a lady and you be treated as such.

A chorus form an old song (long before your time Scarlett) come to mind. May not have them quite right, but here goes:

You gotta have heart, miles and miles and miles of heart,
When the odds are sayin you'll never win, that's when a grin should start,
You gotta have heart.

Meghan, I'm glad you mentioned the photos. I am taking my camera and tripod. I might take them outside of the places I visit with the camera on my tripod and the self timer. Or if I run into some very friendly and open sales girls, I'll ask them to take a photo of me in the store, or mall, or bookstore, or wherever and maybe have someone else get in the picture with me....Thanks for responding, Meghan. You have such a wonderful smile and always have such positive posts in replies to my posts and other's posts. We are all so lucky to have you here...Scarlett

Thanks for the outfit compliment and I will indeed have a blast!...Scarlett

- - - Updated - - -

Dana, as you can see above, that has to be one of the most positive compliments of all sent in so far. All the girls have been so encouraging and kinda know what a big deal this is...I do feel that I might turn a few heads in a really good way...I see a pretty girl staring back at me when I see myself in my photos and our full length mirror here at the house. I won't overdo the makeup or the outfit as you can see... I'll let ya know how things went on Wednesday!..Scarlett

- - - Updated - - -

Great tips, Majella. By the way, my sister lives in your town....Scarlett

- - - Updated - - -

Jennie, I have been to Boston many times and have been in the largest mall in the Boston area about 7 to 10 miles outside of Boston Proper. Folks here in the south, dress up a little more than in the northeast when they go to the mall even when they go to a football game. You should see the girls at Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss at a college football game - guys and girls. It's like it was back in the fifties in the south when everyone went to ball game in the south. They wore their Sunday best. Same thing going to football game at Bryant Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Some of the girls and women get dress to the nines when they go to the game. Now as far as blending is concerned, I'm not going to any of these places just to blend in. I want to be one of the best dressed girls in the mall. Many girls and guys who work in our mall have to dress really nice depending on which store they are in. Like Dillards or Belks, those girls and guys have to be styling when most of them come to work. The people in all of the jewelry stores are always looking special. I do want to be noticed but not in a goofy way like someone dressed in drag at a Mardi Gras parade on Fat Tuesday in New Orleans. That's not my style. I would like to turn a few heads in a really nice way of maybe girls and guys. To maybe appreciated the outfit and the beauty of a real pretty lady who just walked by if that makes sense. I don't want to just blend in with the girls wearing sweat pants or strap hats on backwards. Or blend in with the wall paper. I'm going to be seen, not just to go for a walk. I take a lot of pride in my makeup skills and skills of putting outfits from top to bottom together and now, it's finally time to go out and show off my skills a little bit if that makes sense too. If I make a positive connection with a sales associate or someone in the food court or anywhere else, that will be great as well. I have been looking forward to this for a long time and look forward to a very fun, exciting, and learning experience!....Scarlett

- - - Updated - - -

Kelly, I would fall and break something if I really went skating in my skirt...I do love these skater skirts and have a really nice collection of them now. It's gonna be fun to start showing them off in public for a change!..Scarlett

- - - Updated - - -

Oh Beth, no need to be jealous. You look so pretty and cute. That outfit you have on in your Avatar photo is a killer girl! Your turn is coming up soon. I've been waiting for Monday and Tuesday night for over 6 months! Thanks for being so sweet...Scarlett

- - - Updated - - -

Racheal Leigh, you are so sweet and kind. You have written to me a few times and it's all been encouraging and positive. This forum needs you and is lucky to have you! You are a real ray of sunshine to the girls on this forum...I will own it and I'll put the feminine flare on it Monday and Tuesday nights. No bars on my list..Just good clean safe places to go. Have my stops all mapped out...No back alleys or anything like that. The Mall, a movie theater that I know really well, a book store, a TJ Max store, and a high end grocery store...Thanks again a bunch...Rachael Leigh...Scarlett

- - - Updated - - -

That's what I was thinking, Brenda. You are so sweet and encouraging and I will have a pile of fun....Scarlett

- - - Updated - - -

Thanks for the hugs, Lana Mae! I will indeed have a wonderful time...I'm sure of it....Talk to ya'll Wednesday!....Scarlett
