Smile Always love the positive reactions

As some of you may know, I don't really present as female anymore these days. I no longer go the whole 9 yards, with a wig & make-up & padding & what-not, like many of you do. Just not what I feel is needed or desired in my current life.

However, I do oftentimes wear women's athletic wear, from head-to-toe, while in guy-mode. Think hoodie & leggings, basically. Very comfy, and right up my alley.

Now, a guy wearing leggings/yoga pants/running tights is not a very common sight in my neck of the woods -- even for those actively exercising. Aside from me, it's pretty much non-existent, from what I've seen. And while some companies do make work-out leggings for men, I'll wear in public those which, while aren't *totally* femmy, like a pink & purple floral print, they are unmistakably women's.

Anyway, I had to run a few errands today. And as luck would have it, the temperature outside was perfect for my typical leggings & hoodie "uniform." According to my full-length mirror, I did look well-put-together, which is what I always aim to do.
So out the door I go, and who do I almost literally run into in my apartment building's lobby, but a GG-stranger maybe in her 30's!

I see her quickly scan me up & down, then a *HUGE* knowing grin suddenly bursts from her face, complete with beaming eyes.

"Heeeyyyyyyyy..." she exclaims. Many of you already know that sing-songy tone. Ha!

I say hi back, with a corresponding "yeah-I'm-wearing-chick-clothes" smile on my face -- and then a polite thank-you as she holds the door open for me.

If I had turned around after I passed her, $10 says I'd catch her taking a second look, perhaps trying to check out my partially-covered butt.

I dunno, maybe you'd had to have been there in the moment. But trust me when I say that it would have been a much different experience had I been wearing guy-clothes, instead.

It was just one of those things where she instantly recognized how I was dressed, genuinely felt it was a delightful surprise, and was really cool & accepting of the whole thing. It was definitely a great little snippet of all this. It put a smile on my face for the rest of the day, and odds are, on hers, too.

So, if you care to join me, I'm dedicating this thread to all the awesome people out there who accept and perhaps even love this part of us.

Feel free to share any positive little experiences you may have had recently!

Yes! I don't dress like u, Laura, but I can relate! At DLV in Vegas in March I was having a BAD NITE! Lots of abuse from the vanillas, pain from my hi heels, and exhausted from lack of sleep.

I'm dragging my butt back to my car at 1:30 in the morning. With all the rubes staring at me like I've got Black Plague.

Then, a trio of stunning young women entered the casino as I was leaving. One says, "U rock, girl. Strutt your stuff!" She and her friends all gave me big smiles and thumbs up! I practically floated back to my car with a smile on MY face now!

Here's to all those GG's, etc. that "get" us!
U can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect to enjoy life to the max. When u try new things, even if they r out of your comfort zone, u may experience new excitement and growth that u never expected.

Challenge yourself and pursue your passions! When your life clock runs out, you'll have few or NO REGRETS!

Pretty cool when that happens, isn't it? The reaction I like most is "nothing", as in No Big Deal, and a normal conversation ensues. About clothes, shoes, or whatever, as if I'm just one of the girls. That feels like true validation to me.

Yep, there are some who see what we do & who we are, and in appreciation they step up their "girl game" & make us feel welcomed.

    They are our true sisters!

I used to hang with a crowd of them... but I since relocated, and we gradually drifted apart. They were awesome, and I do miss them. Fond memories, and all that.

GG's like these are highly recommended for anyone & everyone!

Anyway, it makes me wonder what the GG's response would have been, if any, had we stumbled upon one another in a different setting. Suppose she had seen me from afar, in the parking lot? Or in the busy supermarket? Or she was in a rush, or was having a really bad day?

Would she still at least be grinning on the inside, and perhaps just thinking/feeling the "Heeeyyyyyyyy..." but keeping it to herself?

I don't believe we would have had the same brief yet cool little interaction & connection, which was unique to the circumstances.

Look for "just do it" by Allisa. Picture included, in this section.

It may of course be a bit disturbing to sense that one is really not so firmly anchored to the gender one was born into.

Since I dress for church on a regular basis, I love it when a get a comment on my outfit. But then again I also complement the other women when they wear something I like.

I agree with Suzanne, that being treated as a normal woman makes me feel great. I went to Kohls with a gg friend shopping for women's clothes recently and nobody paid any attention to me whatsoever. There was even a man waiting for his wife at the dressing room I went into. He was looking right at me when I entered and all I observed from him was boredom.

I love outings like that. But, I certainly like nice comments as well!

    Laura,
Your story made me smile and reminded me of when I was caught out by a female horse rider while walking the dog . I was wearing a black bra and a camisole and didn't have time to slip my shirt on. I remarked how hot it was and I'd probably put too many layers on, she smiled and said I can see that !

The novelty of being treated like one of the girls wore off a long time ago, now it's old ladies who compliment me on something or other.

The magic never goes away though. :-)
