I have a question for the Transmen:

I work in public safety, on day last week my partner, my supervisor, and myself were assisting a family after an event. Now I have known my supervisor over 15 years and she has always identified as guy. She wears a high and tight haircut and when not in uniform, she always wears guy style clothes. She is married and by looking at her wife, she is definatley the "man" in the relationship. On this one particular call (and others) someone said to her "Thank you, Sir". She turned and quipped "I am a ma'am". The person quickly apologized and nothing else was said.

My question when I am dressed as Amy, I expect to be called ma'am. But if you are presenting yourself as a male, shouldn't you expect to be called sir?
