    Heels in public

Has anyone else ever been out in public in heels, but with otherwise fairly manly dress? I have a new pair of 3 inch block heel ankle boots I am desperate to wear outside but I'm not sure what the reaction would be. They would be worn with skinny jeans and a smartish masculine t-shirt (I struggle with feminine tops because they show a lot of chest hair!).

My wife is very happy for me to wear them on date night and it helps she's several inches taller than me so would still be the taller one of us.

Anyone got any experience or advice?

I too have a pair of heeled ankle boots; clearly femme footwear.
I wore them with (male) skinny jeans a couple times last winter.
AND.... no one except me seemed to notice.

Amazon lists the heel at 3 1/4", but they are all of 4" heels.

Pumped, you're so lucky your feet are small! It can be a pain finding shoes that fit over size 10.

I've only done this with flats while walking the dog. Haven't got the nerve to to it in stripper heels too many potholes and nosy neighbors.

I have worn some black sandals that have two inch heels a few times in male mode. Once I wore them to a restaurant. I guess the wait staff noticed because half a dozen eventually came to the table to ask whether we needed anything. Got great service while they were checking out the dude wearing heels!

I only wear heels in public when I'm out fully dolled up.

I do sometimes go shopping wearing my 3 inch pumps, sometimes with ladies' jeans but usually with man pants and a ladies' top.

Ladies & Gentle Beings, it has been my experience ( so far ) that no one notices. Or if they do, they seem to keep their opinions to themselves.

My advice, for what it is worth, be yourselves! Enjoy the ride and savor the experience.

Look for a Payless. They carry all the way up to size 12W in womans.

I have wore women's boots out but with no heel. Wore mans jeans and that covered most of them and of course ran into someone I know she said nothing and neither did anyone else. and I was underdressed was a good day.

You can wear cowboy boots in public. They have heels. Wearing women's shoes (especially heels) when otherwise dressed as a man will get you some stares at best. If you really want to do this, I suggest going to another town where friends, family, co-workers and neighbors aren't likely to see you.

Otherwise, you'll have some explaining to do.

    Krisi,
Cowboy boots work in some parts of the US but stand out very much in the UK, they don't blend in unless you are line dancing.

Newly I have. Two and one half inch heel in black ankle booties bought at Kroger grocery in women's clothing section. Worn with long black boot cut girl jeans they are never noticed, bottom of heel is one inch by one and one half inches. Same jeans went to the mall wearing three inch smaller heel women's black sweade boots and everyone noticed. Wore the same boots and jeans at another mall and didn't appear to be noticed and blended. Hard to figure isn't it???? Like the experienced CD's say on here, just wear it and be oblivious to any looks. One thing I don't fully understand, all the SA's in departments say I look nice in them and want to make friends with me, that said then everyone else should be O.K. with it. The only heeled boots for men are cowboy boots, so what does that leave, you guessed it, tons and tons of women's boots and ankle boots. Don't forget, they fit better wearing nylons and panties on top.

And the ones shown in the pic should pass just fine with the long boot cut jeans, can buy at Walmart.
