    Went To See my doctor

Went to see my doctor for my yearly check up. They give a form to feel out for their records. There was something new on it a box to check male / female and transgender guest which one I check. My doctor knows about my CDing but this was time about transgender. So he wants me to go to a specialist who knows more about it than he does. I haven't had time to get there but I will.

Anyway has anyone else run into anything like this? Things are changing and more people are open to being trans.

Not yet but I have a check up in a few months.
I'll fill out the trans box for sure.

No haven’t seen that yet but have an appointment with my primary care doctor to for a consult to get a recommendation for an endo doctor. This will be my first time to indicate to him I’m trans

BTW, we must keep in mind that the medical profession may view someone who is trans gendered differently than some here might .
Someone who just wears female clothes is not considered trans gendered by the medical community.

This is not to say that someone might indeed be headed in that direction and this might be a topic of discussion with their doctor.

No, I haven't seen that yet, but crossdressing isn't the same as transgender, so I will still check the male.

I saw the same 3 choices on the intake form at the MRI center.

I would think that they need to know because that might actually see something "unexpected".
Hi, I'm Steffi and I'm a crossdresser... And I accept and celebrate both sides of me. Or, maybe I'm gender fluid.

I won't have to check tarns but if there is a CD question I'd be outed. I'm glad they have that question though I think it shows progress for the Tansgendered.

I would check the transgender box. It is great that he sent you to a doctor that know trans issues.

A patient may choose the trans box if he or she self defines as such....entirely optional and there is no medical definition implied.

I'll check both boxes. Whoever reads the form will certainly ask, and it will give me an opening to help educate the world as to all the various classes of transgender people who exist, as well as why we might be this way, and THAT'S quite important, to remove the commonly thought idea that this is somehow a choice. Right now, I'm guessing everyone just assumes we're all like Caitlyn Jenner.

There's an addendum at post # 82 on that thread, too. It's about a ten minute read.
Why don't we understand our desire to dress, behave and feel like a girl? Because from childhood, boys are told that the worst possible thing we can be, is a sissy. This feeling is so ingrained into our psyche, that we will suppress any thoughts that connect us to being or wanting to be feminine, even to the point of creating separate personalities to assign those female feelings into.

Recently had a colonoscopy. The hospital called a couple days ahead to do a pre-registration. Typical questions: review on the prep, liquid diet, stopping blood thinner, medications I take, allergies, birth date, who would drive me home. Final question what was my birth gender and what gender did I identify as now. Wasn't expecting that. For a moment thought they could see how I was dressed over the phone.

Wow, that’s really interesting Barbie. Amazing the progress that is being made. I went to the doc about a month ago and her form had male, female and transgender boxes. I was surprised but hopeful for what the future holds.
