    Too much shoes!

So I recently realized that I have a lot of shoes. 20+ pairs I think (haven't counted yet). most of them with high heels.
The problem is that since I hardly go out dressed, shopping is mostly an emotional issue.
The advice for "normal" people with the same problem would be to buy only what is practical for day to day, or buy items for a specific use (a wedding, a special dinner or any other event), or buy shoes that match the clothes you have.
Those arguments are not so relevant for a closeted dresser (or should I say indoor dressers). CD is a rush, a thrill; so rational arguments and tips are harder to implement.
The obvious answer is just to exercise more self-control. ☹️ easier said than done.
Do you have the same problem? how do you deal with it?
    Tips and advices are welcomed.
    Thank you, Michal.

    Michal,
I can understand women and the thing they have about shoes, in male mode how many shoes do you have ? I have two black leather pairs one brown and a few more casual shoes. The point is we don't have to match outfits , now on the female side do I have too many ? Well not really I like to match outfits with shoes , some need a higher heel and some a neat wedge . Then there is the climate to consider , boots for the winter , and sandals and wedges for the summer and some really nice heels for the more dressy occasions . Unlike you I'm out and about so I have to really think it through and consider what goes with what and the appropiate outfit and shoe for the right situation. I bought some block heeled Mary Jane's in suede , which I thought I'd never wear but were ideal with my black slim fit cord trousers yesterday. I did my supermarket shopping in them , they were still dressy enough to check out a clothing store . In those circumstances it brings a touch of confidence to being out in public .

In male mode i have like 5 or 6 shoes, but these are shoes for different purposes: snikers, boots, formal shoes, tennis shoes etc.
My women's shoes are boots (ankle and knee high), pumps and mary jane's.
I know women's shoes have to match different outfits so they tend to buy more than men.
But still, 20+ pairs for just dressing at home feels excessive.
how many shoes do you have?

All together, I have only nine pair of heels, booties, and boots. I find being monitarily challenged tends to keep the pile down to a minimum.

One cannot have too many shoes, only too many ugly shoes 😝. Of course this comes from someone who still has not had the courage to buy any heels or pumps. As for typical male footware, I have many. My SO has a thing for how I look in nice dress shoes, so I have some rather nice ones in black, and a few shades of brown. I also have a few pair of boots, loggers, cowboy and Steel toe pull on style. I also have a few pair of flip flops in various states of disrepair.

I have a lot more women's shoes than I do mens. It doesn't bother me, except with regards to storage space.

I have more female attire than male, it does not worry me as I wear most of the female kind regularly.

As for shoes you do need a variety, for men there are only about four styles shoes, sandals, boots and bare feet. :-)

Like others have said, I have many more women's shoes than men's. I have limited opportunity to wear them yet I still buy them. I generally buy them to go with specific outfits. Since i enjoy them I don't really worry about it being excessive.

Written like a true CD Michal, or no different to a lot of us anyhow!

It can be an emotional thing for me as well, and a cashmere scarf can settle my mind. It just comes down to the basics at times; money, cupboard space etc..

I'm actually trying a new system for myself which is that whatever I buy must match at least 2 other items. Buying 3 items at once is making it worse, I am very colour co=ordinated though!

Sorry to say but the self control method seems to work best for me!
    Good luck with it!

Since I just started buying womens shoes may male shoes still out number. Male shoes: 11 (2 trail running, 3 road running, 1 minimalist running, 2 dress, 2 flip flops, and 1 boots). Women shoes: 3 (4" wedge, 3.5" stiletto, 2.5" calf boot).

My wife asked why I needed so many shoes already when I only wear them at home. The easy answer is that she gave me a lot of hand me downs (skirts, dresses, shirts, panties, bras) but we are over 3 shoes sizes apart (and even if we did have the same shoe size she doesn't wear heels which are the only shoes I am interested in getting for now until I have a nice variety). I can't imagine her response if I had close to 20 pairs of shoes

There is no such thing as to many pairs of shoes. I have all types, well over a hundred pair and still see more that I like and want. Marshalynn

The problem arises when I am looking for women's shoes in my size. I am outside the bell curve so, when those shoes are found, especially new at thrift stores, I rationalize the purchase. After all, what are the odds of this happening again?

Then I go to the next store and see two more identical pair, all new, and another two, same style, different colors. Just one of the reasons why I have too many shoes!

To many shoes? I've never heard of such a thing. When it comes to shoes, I'm 100% girl. Yes, I do have a hard time passing up a shoe store. One thing I learned from My wife is. BLACK DOESN'T COUNT. You can buy all the cute black shoes your little heart desires. I think I'm up to about 75 pairs as I write. Daviolin

How many black shoes does a girl need?

Well, over the top sexy black patent spike heels and black patents with a more practical heel. Hi heeled pumps, mary janes, and sandals. Also, black suede heels. Now we get to black boots: spike heels, regular heels, booties, knee high, thigh high, and black suede. So, at least 12 in black, not counting ballet and other flats some mite wear.

You'll need the same number and style in white. Maybe the same # in various gold and silver shades. Now, we r up to 48!

U want to start on colors? Nevermind green, blue, and yellow. Let's just work on shades and styles of brown, red, pink, and purple? So, at least another 6 each?

We're up to 75 pairs . Which I consider to be the bare minimum!

    Hi Michal,
it is nice to "see" you here too...
for me - the main problem with shopping is that feeling of spending money on something that I am going to wear only a few time (WAY few times...),
It is kind of stops me from buying (until, of course, I see this perfect dress....)

You really cheered me up 😊.
I am normal!! Well, for a CDer..

So, my real problem is not enough shoes (or at least black ones). 🤣🤣

The only other logical solution to my problem is to get out more, and make more use of the shoes i already have.. 😜

Because of a seriois foot injury I had to give away over 60 pairs of shoes, from boots to heels. Can never wear them again. My daughter in law was the big winner because she wear the same size. I hve to admit that I feel naked. Had that not been the case I would have given them away here. Most were seldom if ever worn.

I only go out dressed once a month on average, but I still love to match with what I'm wearing even at home.At last count i was at 30 pairs,of msny styles from high heels to ballerina flats, and after my recent mishap (as related on here) on my last trip out, well theres a ready made excuse to buy another pair right there As long as your within your budget, and you have the room I don't see a problem in buying those new shoes

Sherry, I love your thinking... I'm just starting to build my wardrobe, so I only have three pairs of shoes. A pair of black pumps with 3 in heels, a pair of nude nude pumps with 2 1/2 inch block heels, (my favorite so far) and a pair of black Espadrilles which are very comfortable.

I can and have spent hours, perusing the selection of shoes on Amazon and Zappos and really have to restrain myself from adding them to the shopping cart. Prime with free returns makes it so easy to click the check out button. Sigh...

The one thing I don't have an excess of is shoes, maybe a dozen pairs. Everything else though I have in excess, more than I could ever need.
I enjoy being a boy, being a GIRL like me!!!
