Well, least I was being honest.......

Watching an oldie movie that starred a young Ryan O' Neil this past weekend, my wife remarked that he was her pretend husband when she was young. The conversation, of course, led to Farrah Fawcett and I got the normal roll of the eyes when I mentioned I didn't want to marry Farrah but rather I literally wanted to be Farrah.

Never will forget, at the mere age of 16, walking into the local wig shop and purchasing the prettiest blonde wig styled just like Farrah's. Never felt sexier in it and a gorgeous cowl neck baby blue dress I purchased to go to my first show bar.

    Ah the memories of youth.

Other than Farrah, it was Ginger from Gilligan's Island and then Loni Anderson that kept me intrigued with being the opposite sex.

How about you girls? Who did you wish to be as a youth.

Today, for me, it would be Jennifer Anniston or Jennifer Lawrence.

Well it certainly wasn't Klinger from M*A*S*H*

    "Ah the memories of youth.
that kept me intrigued with being the opposite sex."

Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha from "Bewitched" definitely cast a spell on a young me.
I was intrigued with her eyebrows from such a young age.

    eyebrows color.jpg

Add her character as her cousin Serena, my sisters and I would crack each other up copying her voice.
Surprised I never dressed as a witch like her growing up

Loni Anderson certainly inspired me with her outfits.
What young crossdressing boy wouldn't want to sneak into her closet?

Marilyn Monroe in "Some like it Hot"
She looked the way she looked and hung around men completely dressed as women.
Seemed like a fun time to me when I first saw it at such a young age.

Cannot say I wanted to be a woman but I imagined that if I could then I'd love to look like them.

    Oh what a question !

Now I'm showing my age some ! I had a crush on Diana Rigg at school I did a pencil sketch of her which I still have , I wasn't overly into leather gear but she did wear it well in the Avengers . I thought Mary Tyler Moore was cute but I also had a crush on many of the English Rose actresses that came along in the sixties , Julie Christie , Susan Hampshire , there was a spate of them .

I mustn't forget I was mesmorised by Kelly LeBrock in , " Woman in Red " seeing her do the Monroe thing in her red dress over the air vent , Oh Boy !!

Oh that would be Marilyn Monroe and Linda Gray on Dallas.
Wanting something is a fantasy which on a long time period clouds your mind and makes you think you need it.

Probably the TV show that I remember most when I was at that key age of 12-13 was Roseanne, and my favorite character was Darlene. I've always had a thing for tough, sarcastic characters, especially when they are girls who don't realize how pretty they are, or don't care. She was kind of a role model for me. I remember watching a ABC environmental special where she talked about recycling but did so with such disdain and detatchment and I was hooked. LOL.

One of my current favorite's is Jessica Jones, Krysten Ritter. I'm also a big fan of Zoey Deschanel.

Jaclyn Smith was the angel I preferred, and definitely Mary Ann over Ginger, and Jan Smithers over Loni Anderson too lol.
I didn't think I could be blonde, I couldn't handle the extra fun. When I was younger, I would've wanted to be either Maureen O'Hara or Hedy Lamarr, but I also liked Teresa Wright and Loretta Young. In the 90's it was Christine Lahti.
Today, Cate Blanchett would be my ideal, though I do agree with you Desiree on the two Jennifers!

Desiree, maybe u can explain? With all the gorgeous women of the day, why would anyone prefer the horse faced, Farrah? I certainly didn't!

I never got it then, not do I now!

Audrey Hepburn. Hedy Lamarr. Both combining beauty, brains and a social conscience.

Audrey Hepburn had style, but I did like the pouty look of Tuesday Weld.
