So after 6 years of this program, my poor mailbox mounted on a 4x4 post began leaning slightly; this past weekend I was able to effect repairs so it was standing proud again. Which was timely, as I returned home from work Monday to find it overflowing with my latest online CD purchases. I hadn’t really thought about CD’ng as a causal factor of mailbox damage til that moment and had a good laugh.
Time to get shopping again!

I had a pretty shaky bank account once.
I slowed the rate of purchases and it is fixed now.
With the mailbox I would only order summer clothes, they are lighter. :-)

I once upon a time had the same Mail Box Problems.
I fixed it by sinking a 3" Steel column down 4' into the ground.
I had a spare column from work. (House Construction)
It has not fail in over 39 years.

That reminds me--my mailbox is very weak--I will soon have to come up with a new plan. It was a 4 x 4 post--but most of it is rotted away at the base. I guess treated lumber is not forever.
Our block lost all its individual mailboxes a number of years ago. Instead we have individual mail boxes for each house (20) with three parcel drop off boxes. Individual keys. No longer have to worry about 'porch pirates' making off with dainties from a mailbox or the overflow sitting on the door step. I await the delivery on Friday of three pair of Vanity Fair "Just Peachy" nylon panties with the knowledge they will be delivered safely. No more 4" x 4" posts that can be knocked over by kids having a lark in a beater car.
