    Finally did it

So I finally got the courage up to go and talk to a counselor about my dressing and feeling more like a woman than a male yesterday. It wasn't the counselor per se, but the intake and assessment and all that jazz. I see the counselor later in September. It feels good to finally take the initial steps.

I agree with all the above. Plus, if you have never had any type of therapy/counseling the goal is to meet your needs, i.e. help you understand something or yourself, learn how to solve a big problem and overall help to remove some big issue you may have in order to make you whole again in your everyday life. So, all the being said, be very open, please do not hold anything back no matter how embarrassing it may be for you. They can only help by knowing the full story, not just the current one but how you got to today. Good luck and try to enjoy it. Once you get in the groove with the therapist it can be wonderful to finally talk honestly with someone with no internal fears.

I agree with everything said here. My wife and I see a gender-specialist counsellor together and I’m going to start solo therapy with our superstar therapist tomorrow. Really excited about that. Be honest and spill the beans and you’ll get more out of it than you ever imagined.

On that note, if anyone is looking for a counselor the LA area, mine is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and I’m happy to make referrals. PM me for details.

Feeling the way I think you do it is a wise decision on your part.

Allie, I do plan on being completely honest no matter how embarrassing it is. I know they are there to help me and I can't get the help I need if I hold back.

Beverley, I have felt this way a long time! They aren't going away nor do I think they ever will.
