Random ads I want to click on but don't

I work in technology and have been engaged in Internet services for decades. I understand cookies and ad tracking so I am very cautious at work in terms of what I click on. If I research a hotel or particular brand of something ads start popping up all over the place for a few days in sync with my research. What is strange is the last few days an ad has been following me around from a company called Make Up For Ever with various foundations. A big Shop Now button is so tempting.

For those of you who are curious, I am typing this on a personal mini iPad tied to my personal hotspot.

Just a random thought for the morning.

    Tiffany

Tiffany, like anyone who has an online presence ads follow me, even when I browse in private mode. At work I only go to sites that will not raise an eyebrow, for example Macys.com to look at dresses. I would not go to the Breast Form Store or Janet's Closet.
Please call me Jamie, I always_have crossdressed, I always will, "alwayshave".

I received an email from a sibling some time ago informing me that he had shingles. Google immediately began generating ads for roofing materials. Algorithms can’t know everything...yet

    Hi Tiffany,

I understand completely. I'm very selective when it comes to what I click on at work. My phone on the other hand...

Where I worked, I had a security clearance. Going to any site that wasn't job related could have resulted in "punishment" some sites could have resulted in my immediate firing.
    Yes, Big Brother was watching.

Needless to say, I was a good little camper and never used my work computer for anything but work.

After I check out panties at Jockey the next several days I get their ads pop up all over. Then when my wife goes on the same computer she gets a chuckle as she knows it was me looking for something new. Crissy

This is why i have a separate laptop, phone and accounts in Colleens name and keep everything to do with my hobby on those. I dont have to hide from my wife, but if my son saw any of it there may be issues. I started this as some pictures appeared one day on our shared laptop through Google.

For me, it's work only on the work laptop, everything else on the personal laptop, I don't log into Google and I have as much closed down as possible. I only use private mode and close browser sessions down between websites. Nothing's perfect but this seems to largely work for me.

Good point. I’ve experienced the same thing. Kinda scary and, from what I read, it’s only going to get more personal. I often go into Amazon and clear searches, but I’m never sure if they’re cleared. I’ve read some scary things about Siri and Alexi. No doubt, Big Brother is watching.

I use a separate notebook for Susan stuff and NEVER use my laptop for any Susan stuff. Despite this I occasionally get adverts for dress sites on my laptop. Could there be some spying on my IP address?

My hotmail account keeps posting ads on the first line of incoming mail. If I do some research on a medical condition ads inviting me to schedule an appointment with a primary care network pop up. Cars ads are another. Condo rentals. I use to get more personal ads until I disabled ads that were custom to my searches. Now I get any old ad and the right hand ad column is blocked. That use of annoy me because I would get pictures of all the feminine garments I had perused. Nothing like having bras, panties, etc staring at you while someone comes behind you. I do get queries from eBay, JCPenny, Macy's asking if I am still interested in something I perused. I do get tailored ads from them based upon prior searches.

When I was still working I it was permitted to use the computer for personal use during lunch, etc as long as I avoided questionable sites. Obviously viewing porn would have ended with termination. After awhile going to sites such as Victoria Secret was forbidden as titillation. I always figured I did not want to explain to anyone why I was viewing some sites. How does one explain coming to www.crossdressers.com everyday? Common sense should prevail.

Time to go check out the ads at Macy's. The teaser ad says 40% off dresses.

Fortunately I have suppressed the tracking and the only time I get the pertinent ads is through E Bay.

I really know nothing about all the new technology but I found that if you've been to a web site such as we go to buy from or one we are just browsing and you don't want the ads popping up from sites similar sites to that one then try this. Especially on EBay. After I buy what I want, browse what I want in the sections I don't want to pop up. I just before I turn my computer off or I pad I just start hitting cars types, sports spots, fishing equipment, camping equipment, anything manly so to speak. As soon as the search engine pops up four or five of different ads like this I'm hitting the next search.
The CDing sites quit popping up and if any one else uses the computer they get the last three or four ads advertising cars, fishing stuff, camping equipment and etc. This seems to work for me.

I recently went on youtube and looked up ad ware blocking - it took a little time but now my computers don't keep track of everything I look up - it can be done you can control all advertising and it lets internet explorer run much more smoothly, try it! ………………………………...Debra

I followed u just fine while u spoke English, Tiff. But, then u suddenly switched to "techie ease"!

" I am typing this on a personal mini iPad tied to my personal hotspot."
U can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect to enjoy life to the max. When u try new things, even if they r out of your comfort zone, u may experience new excitement and growth that u never expected.

Challenge yourself and pursue your passions! When your life clock runs out, you'll have few or NO REGRETS!

I use ghostery, tampermonkey, and adblock, delete all cookies and history when the browser closes. I have no trouble with ad categories following me around.

There's an addendum at post # 82 on that thread, too. It's about a ten minute read.
Why don't we understand our desire to dress, behave and feel like a girl? Because from childhood, boys are told that the worst possible thing we can be, is a sissy. This feeling is so ingrained into our psyche, that we will suppress any thoughts that connect us to being or wanting to be feminine, even to the point of creating separate personalities to assign those female feelings into.

You buy something on line, and for months, you get add's to buy more from the same place.
    Enough already.

The annoying thing about ad tracking is that there seems to be no discrimination involved. If I look at something, ads for it ensue. I may have already bought it. I may have decided I don't want it. In either case I have no plans to buy it, so ads for it are of little interest to me.

My wife hates that I cross-dress and that I've have kept it a secret for 35 years.
She has been digging threw the basement and computer to find out what ever I'm hiding.

Well even thou I don't follow (makeup and dresses) on Pinterest I've searched allot and I been getting about 3 emails a day on makeup and dresses.
My wife saw them and it's really bothering her.

I spent quite a lot of time on Pinterest trying to figure out how to stop it.
Plus Dam PayPal keeps the records of all transactions from day one, I'm planning on closing the PayPal account but they tell me I'll still have access to the closed account for years.

    ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

"This is ME" I am not CRAZY, I'm just a GUY who likes dresses!
Since allot of men dress up in woman's clothing that makes it a manly thing to do!
    Much more fun than fishing.
I do construction like house building and I love CD-ing, what's the difference?

I use a device called a Pi-Hole to at least stop ads from displaying when I browse. It doesn't actually stop ad networks from tracking me, but simply prevents the display of ads. It runs on a Raspberry Pi that is on my home network so it only works when I'm home.
Jenn A --- nothing fancy, just me.
