    Hello, all.

    A few months ago, when the notion of me going out dressed was nothing but a dream, l started coming out to friends I trusted to build a support system around me.

    About an hour ago, l learned that my friend Tony, the second person to whom I came out, passed away from Cancer today in the early afternoon.

    I'm still wrapping my head around this, but I wanted to share one last time The Story of My Coming out to Tony which I posted a mere four months ago. It's a pretty funny story, if I say so myself.

    Tony also saw me fully made up when I had my first makeover about three weeks ago (see avatar). He seemed well enough then. How quickly things can change.

    Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to work through some feelings.

    Condolences on your loss. Loosing close friends such as yours can be like loosing a relative.

    As Beverley says, cancer is cruel. Someone I've known for year as a casual acquaintance died a few days ago from cancer. A few months ago he appeared fit and well.

    So here is a lesson for us all. Don't ignore those symptoms, the cough that won't go away, sudden unexplained weight loss, trouble toileting. It's not manly to think, "Oh I'll be ok, it'll get better sooner or later". See the doc and get it checked out.

    Let's not loose any of us to the scourge that is cancer.

    And yes, your post about meeting Tony is a good one. A memory to cherish.

    I reread your story and loved it as much the first time. Such uncomplicated acceptance is what I think we all wish for. So sorry to hear of you losing such a close friend.

    Only tonight,here in the UK,we had a TV event (Stand up to Cancer) which raised £23million for cancer charitys.
    I hope we can rid the world of this awful scourge
