Old habits are hard to break!

Stopped at a local brewery taproom for a one or two of my favorite brewski's, dressed en-femme (casual - jeans, long sleeve scoop T-shirt, hair down, light makeup - showing my best cleavage) when a nice young man and his friend sits next to me and strikes up some friendly conversation - then he says " By the way, my name's Armando, what's yours?"...Did I say Tina?....No....Did I give a feminized version of my given name?... Nope. I just blurted out "Nice to meet you I'm *****". ARRRGH!

Everything turned out just fine anyway.

    Tina:
Think we have all made that mistake if we're caught unawares. After it happened to me the first time I just wrote it off as a " rookie mistake".

I guess it doesn’t matter. All’s well that ends well!

I'm glad everything turned out fine for you. Your final line above says more than you think. From the way you describe yourself it sounds as if you enjoy being looked at/admired and there's nothing wrong with that, there are times that I purposely do that also.

Now you're out at a bar, presenting as a woman, and a young man starts paying attention to you. Maybe he read you, maybe not, maybe he was just being friendly. We'll never know what was going on in his mind. What I'm getting at is what if you had referred to yourself as Tina? Are you prepared or willing for what may have followed? What about if you weren't read and he later found out you were a man, are you prepared for that? Maybe giving you real name first would have caused problems also, but at least he would have known the truth about you up front.

I'm not saying either way is right or wrong, just that which ever way you decide to introduce yourself you need to understand the possible outcomes, and be prepared for what may happen. In other words, just try to stay safe.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to unlearn decades of conditioning. At least it all worked out ok and next time you'll probably be fine.

I'm glad to see that all was well that ended well! This scenario is one of the main reasons I chose the female variation of my given name (although I realize that some masculine names don't have a readily available feminine version).

Tina, My femme name is just a variation of my male name, so its a little easier not to slip up.

Me too Jamie, Ray to Rachel is an easy progression.
    Rachel,

As a crossdresser my personality has several facets. Therefore, I suppose I can be forgiven for being facetious.

I have actually on occasion partially blurted out Brenda before saying I mean Brad while in guy mode which I am sure must seem a little strange. It can be interesting carrying on two lives with different friends.
