I haven't seen that yet but that's because I haven't been to the doctor in nearly 20 years.

I just had an appointment with a Dermatologist last month and the forms had the T box on it. That gave me a good feeling about their practice.

I saw the same thing on the intake form years ago at the MRI center. That really makes sense to me because of the level of detail in an MRI. It would be somewhat anomalous to see external girl bits and a prostate gland.

But, I did talk with the intake techs and they didn't like it at all. The have some patients that don't have a clue and others that know, but get very angry about it. And, who do you think they yell at? The intake techs.
Hi, I'm Steffi and I'm a crossdresser... And I accept and celebrate both sides of me. Or, maybe I'm gender fluid.

My new passport application form has three options for sex, M, F, and O meaning other.

I was told that if I wanted to fly pretty without any hassles a new application would be advisable with the "O" option, so that is what I plan to do next time.

I just put F, that is what they have anyways. It does get a bit awkward when the doctor starts asking invasive questions about my last "cycle" and i have to say, "Look, here is the deal..."

Beverly sims - how do you know the "O" doesn't stand for "often"?

Don't you want to go to the doctor so they can tell you that you have type 2 diabetes like they do the rest of us? It is the big thing to diagnose now. I do not know if I really have it but i take the meds they prescribe, I wash the pills down with a can of soda. No, I am not kidding.

on a medical form about a year ago (I'm pretty sure it was VA), there was a question that asked "What gender do you self identify as?"
The choices were still male and female, but it's a start, I guess.

Twenty years? Congratulations! That seems really logical and smart.

Filling out foster paperwork a week or so ago and it was the first time I saw very forward thinking sex/gender/orientation boxes. They had sex male/female, gender male/female/gender non-conforming/one I forgot/other, and orientation straight/gay/some other options.

It was the first time I ever picked gender non-conforming

Ignorance is bliss. I suppose the patients who yell the loudest are the ones who don't recognize transgender men and women. Probably, they get upset too when the blood donation center wants to know if they had sexual relations with another man in the last two years.

I went to the dentist about a year ago and was surprised they had "transgender" and "nonbinary" as gender options on the forms. Form also asked my sexual orientation, and how I identify. I know they have to ask that because of oral cancer (higher in some groups than others), but it still seemed a bit... personal... Since I am not a TS (and no one finds me attractive anyway), "straight male" is good enough for the dentist.

heck, for me there needs to be a "C" on there for confused. Not being flippant, but day to day I sometimes feel differently about this. ( even after over 50 years of this up and down world of ours)

Yes I have, just last weekend at a local urgent care clinic, which uses an electronic sign-in. It was natural for me to select Trans and identify as trans-female. The sign-in also included the sex for medical insurance purposes.

My wife was filling out a form the other day and in addition to male and female it had M to F, F to M, non-binary and "gender queer". When we went through the door, I couldn't help but notice to restrooms, Men and Women.

I suppose they are doing this because someone complained, but medically, you are male or female.

yes I circled transgender on a form a couple of years ago. The nurse said I must have made a mistake! She probably expected some visual clue (or something) that I was TG.

    Billie Jean,
Yes I have seen it on my blood donation screening form and been asked the gender question at my GP's surgery . I saw my GP last Sunday and again she made it clear she was totally on board along with all the staff in the surgery .

    Krisi,
I don't think the policy changes would be down to a complaint it's now politically correct to assign people the correct gender . I feel you may have put your foot in it by the comment about being either male or female , I take it you have visited the NB section !
