    You look like a ballerina

Said by my wife who i s not all that accepting. Last winter, on a cold day, she let me borrow a pair of her leggings. I told her that they were super comfortable, warm and that I really liked them. So, now when a cold day appears, I wear my leggings around for the day. Well, today she mentioned I look like a ballerina in my “cute tights”. She was hoping I would not like the comment, but all I said was thank you and I agreed that I thought they looked nice.
...and I am still wearing them.

Sorry she's not accepting. I had the same issue with my ex-wife, even though I was not dressing at the time. Our divorce was unrelated to my need to dress, btw.

I'm happy at least that you were able to take it as a compliment. I love wearing yoga pants when I'm relaxing.

Ah, damning with faint praise. I dislike passive aggressive comments, but at least you get to wear her leggings.

Strange comment by someone who is not accepting.

I'd love to look like a ballerina. Heck, that's part of the reason I've started taking ballet classes.

How do you say backfire. Her comment kinda like backfired on her. She probably thought you'd take offense to that statement. My wife sometimes says things similar but I gotten grumpy in my old age and usually just say thank you darling.

yea, I absolutely love the leggins and have four or five pairs. I occasionally wear one around the house and have been waiting for the response.

Always take criticism as a compliment, no arguments that way. :-)

I would have enjoyed that comment since I wanted to go to ballet school when I was 8.

I think your wife has inadvertently given you permission to get your own leggings.

And male ballet dancers wear them too.

A common ploy to belittle a person into accepting someone else's idea. If I were you I'd go buy some of my own. You may be able to find some good end of the season sales and stock up for next winter.

I would take it as a complement and go buy some more leggings.

tonight, I am sitting here, enjoying reading the replies in my own leggings and tunic length woman's sweatshirt.

When it gets super cold in my tundra leggings do a fine job as long underwear. Dual purpose clothing? Time to go shopping!

When I need extra warmth in the winter I go with some CuddlDuds - awesome clothing! They keep me as warm as male long underwear, but are much softer material, and thinner as well.
