The fact the party was cancelled is perhaps a blessing in disguise. Having the time to practice as you're finding out is a boon. This CD'ing thing has taken some of us decades to get the hang of.

One thing I would seriously suggest is if you're going to wear any sort of heeled shoe, wear them any and all chances you can around the house. A bit of parading around the house is a mile away from spending several hours out there in the real world. What feels really comfortable for an hour can start to turn into instruments of torture after two. At three hours you suddenly understand why women slip their heels off at parties. If you're the one doing the driving, take a pair of comfortable shoes you can at least drive home in.
