I was watching C-Span a few days ago. Brian Lamb was interviewing Keith Oberman, well known cable sport and news caster in the State,

He was recounting a time several years ago, when after covering the US Open
Tennis Championship for several days, eyes right to left to right to left, his left eye locked up on him.
He couldn't move it
He went to his opthamologist who, after hearing the story, laughed, and told he referring him to the best muscle opthamologist in NYC: Dr Renee Richards
(transsexual former tennis player) -

He went to her and she cured him

There were no snide remarks or innuendos, no snickers.

The only joke was that his injury may have happened while watching a tennis tournament and Dr Richards had been a professional tennis player.

I think this was a small but nice acceptance of transsexuality by "ignoring" it.
