My wife went on disability for ten years and stayed home as a housewife. Looking back, as what we would have done differently, it would have made more sense for me to do all the cooking.
We paid off the 15 yr mortgage early and saved plenty for retirement. And we continued the two long travel vacations each year. But, everyone's finances are different.
