That test is a lot of fun. I agree with others about getting the results you desire. I have struggled with dysphoria my whole life. If I were 20 years younger today, the solution would have been straightforward. At this point in my life, the cumulative and interwoven effects of a million decisions have led me to understand that switching teams is not in my particular best interest.

I scored a 70, strong indication of gender dysphoria.

I hate to throw water on this, but ... I didn't take the test because these kinds of tests, especially with generalized questions, should be taken with a grain of salt about the size of Massachusetts. Self assessment tests are notoriously inaccurate. They don't prove a thing unless they are interpreted after interviewing the test taker by someone who knows how to interpret the results correctly. One of the largest errors is to assume that if you have dysphoria then you may be transgender. Hogwash! It is true that gender dysphoria (a discomfort with your native gender identity) can be indicative of a person with unresolved gender issues, but a lot of transgender people of all kinds do not have gender dysphoria because they have come to accept who they are and are not at all uncomfortable with that identity. In other words using the dysphoria test to identify whether you are transgender or not is illogical. All it shows is whether you have issues with your native (birth) gender and those issues create a Discomfort in your life and sense of self. Once you fully accept who you are and what you are, dysphoria should go away unless it remains because of other issues.

Furthermore, as others have pointed out these tests taken without having a subsequent interview to tell if you were telling the truth is little more than a parlor trick. Also a person who is exhibiting dysphoria is already in a disturbed state and is more likely than not to skew the answers toward showing a result that is closer to what they want than what is there. That is why the interview by a specialist is so important. I am not saying the test is not useful. It probably is but only in the hands of a person who is able to separate themselves from the answers provided and view those answers in the context of a focused underlying concept.

    GretchenM,
A very good point about the quality of answers . Also the point Nadine made , we can only supply truthful answers if we've already experienced the contents of some of the questions .

I wonder if it raises a broader scenario of being asked the right question by a counsellor , we don't always know how good they are as we have nothing to relate them to . At one point I did ask my gender counsellor if I was only seeking her help to validate my dressing needs ? I have to say she was professional enough to see that one coming but she had to agree it was sometimes the situation they did face.

I would be wary of any phycological diagnosis obtained from an on-line test. Interesting, perhaps, but not scientific.

I think these kind of tests are fun to take, but as Gretchen wrote they should be taken with a LARGE grain of salt. One of the problems with this test that I ran into was how they used the term "gender". Many times I didn't know if they were using gender in a physical sense, one's physical sex, or how one feels mentally and emotionally gender-wise. These can be two very different things and can alter the answers one gives. I personally got a much better understanding of my own gender identity by using Dara Hoffman-Fox's book: “You and Your Gender Identity: A Guide to Discovery”. Of course neither can replace actual counseling with an experienced gender therapist.

    Georgia,
Their actual usage is the normal one when referring to GD .

I did the test just to see, for fun. 106... but what was disturbing was what was on the answer page... treatments for gender dysphoria. Like this is a disease and it needs to be treated.

I would agree with that LydiaL. I scored a 94. I think some of the questions had gray areas that couldn't be answered as accurately as I felt.

    121 points.

By the way, why is the word "assigned" thrown so much? Since when are we talking about homework or a project?

This test seemed better than most. Got an 85. Not so dysphoric, since I see myself as gender fluid.

Pixie, I was REALLY hung up on the use of "assigned" for gender/sex determination at birth. (I work in mental health, so its everywhere.) The word just seemed to indicate a random event. "You there! You are male. You...female. Just because." But if I think of it as meaning "based on observable data, this child has been assigned the male/female sex (or is it gender)." Then it's not so problematic.

117 - Your results indicate that you have no, or only a few, symptoms of Gender Dysphoria.

    Sounds right for me.

This "test" has far more efficacy as the marketing tool that it is than it does as a diagnostic tool. With that in mind, it's harmless fun.
    61, by the way.

Took the test just for grins, scored 58. However, I can honestly say that I have zero dysphoria. LOL

    Aunt Kelly,
I agree it's more a foot in the door for online therapy , I've had two Emails for therapist in the US .

It also has the big omission of asking the question if you've had therapy and what was it outcome ?
