    Obsession through your years

This year has made me obsessed with my hair, love it long. But in years past my focus on being a girl has been so different, Clothes my first love , made me so much a girl, then makeup, was rubbish at it then, but felt amazing, nails, really wanted my nails coloured, shoes omg shoes, but all fell away, well I thought was away, but through the years always had an obsession on what made me a girl, this year hair again, love it, next year, me in a short skirt, who knows where my obsession will take me, whats your obsession this year, and believe me it grips you beyond reality, to the point of being exposed !!!!

    Hi Debs and Blue,

Over time since I've been doing this for decades, it has to be lingerie (panties, bras, hose, OBG, and heels of course). Like Blue even a couple of hours a day really helps. The 100+ pairs of panties I guess could be an obsession.

I have obsessions of the week! About everything especially when it comes to dressing. The last year has been an obsession over my breast size. And an obsession over increasing it. Which lead to a bra obsession. Which lead back to a breast size obsession! Lol. Past years I have obsessed over wigs.... corsets, dresses, shoes, going out in public dressed, jewelry, makeup... so much on makeup that I joined a womens makeup forum and over time was asked to be a moderator and then an assistant administrator. But there has always been an underlying obsession with breasts... having them and growing them. Do not think that will ever go away.

I think that obsessions are a dodge from the pain that members here face from not being free to be out, and live it. Just my opinion..
It SURE is my hair ! I have the receipt and the box it came in !

True Rogina but I have a note from my doctor!! Lol. I am taking Bromocriptine for my prolactin secreting pituitary tumor. And one of the side effects and I quote is.....

Strong urges that are hard to control (such as eating, gambling, sex, or spending money).
So my obsessions for going out enfemme to casinos hit three out of 4! My obsession for playing ice hockey used to counter my obsession for eating... use to....

For me it's just being Diane. Bras panties wigs and all that just help make her more confident. I've spent most of my life understanding and being Diane. So I guess just being obsessed with Diane is my obsession.

My boobs have been my most successful asset.

Low cut tops and balconette bras do help.

Debs, you bring up a good question. In the long history of trying to explain the cause of the behavior we exhibit, at one time it was viewed as a type of OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder). That thinking did not last long before it was discounted. Personality Dissociation Disorder has also been pointed to as a cause. Like OCD, that went nowhere. However, it is recognized that some who are gender variant may also exhibit some OCD traits and characteristics.

As long as that does not damage your happiness or cause serious problems in your life, a bit of OCD, although disturbing at times, is not a terrible thing. But when it consumes your behavior much of the time then it is a problem and expert help is needed. Your behavior may also just be a desire to explore the different aspects of female-like behavior more deeply. Experience can create understanding and in that way it is healthy.

Yes. If this dress looks good on me why shouldn’t I buy it? It’s only money, and you can’t take it with you. And the five others I bought at the same time? Well, they were on sale!

With my wife retiring and then Covid-19 lock downs there is inadequate time to be totally en femme. When my wife was still working and I was a retiree I had full days to be en femme. That had me from head to toe a la June Cleaver taking care of the domestic chores. Then, like a car hitting a wall. Sixty miles per hour to zero in a split second. Some may call it an obsession but to me collecting panties of my favorite types keeps my head above water. I am able to sleep in a panty and nylon nightgown every night. I'll keep amassing those panties until???????????????????

There's nothing wrong with CD'ers having some obsession or another with something.

And it certainly doesn't mean that there's always some sort of underlying psychological thing behind it, either.

FACT: Quite a few GG's, too, are utterly *obsessed* with certain things that we may be, as well. Whether online or offline, look around & you'll see plenty of that.

Could be with make-up, or nails, or shoes, or leggings, or cosplay, or Victorian dressing, or whatever. These GG's are absolute fiends!

You mean to tell me that they're simply too scared of being out & about? Please.

These GG's live & breathe this stuff, spending arguably way too much time, money, energy & effort on whatever it is -- at least in the eyes of the average lay-person, that is. And the deep well of knowledge & experience is utterly breath-taking.

Their extensive collections are pretty darn amazing, as well!

I felt the need to reply to this, as recently I've been going down the rabbit-hole of the world of corsetry & its community. OMG, never knew it existed to this extent!

Very fun, very cool, very educational. Mainly GG's, but a few guys/"gender-benders" will pop up from time to time.

Anyway, some people are just naturally drawn to & get involved with certain things, moreso than your average person.

Who cares! Let 'em be. And stop trying to make baseless judgements. Sheesh!

Things are pretty balanced now but as a younger lady, certainly went through a nightie obsession, I had purged an long Olga as a 20 year old and while I love my long Shadowline nighties - still miss that Classic Olga.

Debs, I have an obsession with hair, but I now have 30+ wigs. Though, when I go out, I tend to wear one of the same three wigs.
Please call me Jamie, I always_have crossdressed, I always will, "alwayshave".

I have always been obsessed with leggings; owning about 80 pairs. Since I am a serious exerciser they serve a functional purpose as well. I wear leggings throughout the day; to the gym, store etc.

Excellent points,, Ellbee. Obsessive behavior is only a problem when it dominates a person's life to the extent that they can't function well. Otherwise obsession can be a source of creativity as it produces an intense focus on a subject of interest such that it drives a person to explore the subject very deeply and thereby make new discoveries. When obsession and compulsion are acting together that too can create a behavioral blockage where the obsession and compulsion dominates the person's life pretty much to the point where that is about all they do.

In our world that could arise from a pink fog that occupies your every waking moment and perhaps even your sleeping, in the form of dreams. Males can be obsessed with things males stereotypically are interested in and the same thing is true of females. But if it is just a love of doing it and it doesn't block out the other things that are necessary to live a reasonably responsible life then, in my view, there is no problem. It is a part of determination to, for example, get something right. Perfectionism is a bit of an obsessive-complusive behavior, but that does not make it bad if it results in an intense determination to get things exactly correct and not accept simply being in the ballpark close.

Taking into consideration my more restrictive circumstances with shopping for and storing clothing my obsessions are more body oriented. Shaving all over including forearms and underdressing in panties which I am able to wear in secret. Unfortunately as much as I used to love the feeling of long hair on my shoulders it is too thin to grow.

I had so many obsessions during all my life. All kind of sports, dangerous one as do the Everest, hobbies as photography, astronomy, all kind of jobs. I always though that they were just part of my obsessed life with perfection and success on everything. With the years I learn that my real obsession was to be a woman. Could we call it obsession or that was the real reason of doing so many things in life like a never ending search of my real true?

As Rogina, I think you guys don't want to see your reality....just chasing your tail....

    GretchenM,
I agree searching for perfection can become an obsession . I guess to some it can become an over indulgent obsessive hobby , what they actually achieve isn't real or suited to the RW . To actually step out the door and brave society doesn't cost a fortune or require perfection , in fact it can stand out more . The one aspect I had to learn was how little and not how much , perhaps that's why some say the vanilla world is boring because they enjoy their excesses or being obsessed . In those circumstances it does separate a crossdresser from a TG person and some prefer to be crossdressers as they don't connect with gender issues .

I just added a new tier to my jewelry box, so that may be evidence that I have an earring problem...

My ongoing obsession is what got me into cross dressing to begin with- panties.

For me it is skirt/dresses. Now that I wear them nearly all the time I realize how much I hate how suffocating pants are. Shorts aren't as bad but still not preferred.

I was obsessed with everything a few years ago as I went out and tried various aspects and such, but now I have mellowed out and at the root of it is skirt/dresses and everything else is just optional either way.

The obsessive side of cross dressing, that feeling of being driven, of not being in control of ones own behavior was something that made me very uncomfortable. I hated feeling that way and being unable to stop it, unless I gave in and dressed, or even did something riskier.

It finally occurred to me that I needed another approach: I decided that I would dress in a feminine outfit for at least 15 minutes every day, no matter what, whether I felt like it or not. I kept at it for a long time, probably years. I can't remember when I made a conscious decision to stop insisting on it.

The effect, though, has been something of a revelation. I am now experiencing it as a habit, like any other (or almost; there's still the privacy aspect). I am not dressing any less, but when circumstances dictate that I can or cannot dress, I am experiencing far less frustration or excitement, and I like it that way.
I am a vessel of the goddess. Let me express my calling to a feminine life through nurturing love and relatedness.
