    Continued progress with my wife

    Hi All,

My wife learned of my crossdressing / gender issues about five years ago and with the help of a great therapist we have been slowly working our way through things. It has been a slow and ongoing experience but it is working for us.

Most recently my wife has agreed to two things that I'm thrilled about. First, I now shave my legs and second she has ok'd me going out fully dressed in public! Her only stipulations are that I do it out of town so the neighbors don't see and that I simply use common sense and try to keep it safe.

So tomorrow I will be dressing up and stepping out and I can't wait!

Elizabeth, congrats on your success, I'm sure there was quite a bit of pain and sadness along the way but glad to see you're making progress!

Big congrats Elizabeth! Progress is often slow and not often easy, but you have done it with your marriage intact. Can't ask for more than that!

That is great news. My wife also had guide lines for me to follow, and I followed them and all worked out well.
    Good luck.

Wow Beth that is such great news. Just be really safe where you go and don't go anyplace where you could be attacked. A good cross dressing friend of mine went to a huge cross dressing venue for Halloween party fully dressed as a female devil and on her way back to her hotel room she was pushed down by 3 guys, her wig torn off and soiled and she was kicked and badly bruised.
Again congratulations and I look forward to hearing from you
    Hugs Rach

    Elizabeth,
Can we trade wives? Would love to have a little acceptance.

I live in my present house for about 12 years. It wasn't long ago, when I walked my dog dressed, in darkness, and was terrified by incoming headlights - what if these are my neighbors and they will see me. I even turned around or hid behind a tree. So I get the concern. But then, after I came out and now live openly, I've witnessed old neighbors sell their houses, move away and you never see them again. New move in, and it repeats. Meanwhile, years go by and you can't but wonder, why even care about some strange people, that you barely interact with, and only for a short period of time. Looking back, it all seems foolish. Now that my neighbors know I am trans, absolutely nothing, has changed.

Such great news, Liz! Congrats! We should all be so lucky!
U can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect to enjoy life to the max. When u try new things, even if they r out of your comfort zone, u may experience new excitement and growth that u never expected.

Challenge yourself and pursue your passions! When your life clock runs out, you'll have few or NO REGRETS!

that's all good and I'm happy for you, but I still thinker's sad that so many of us need 'permission' to shave out legs. Idont know if my wife would necessarily ask 'permission' to NOT shave her legs

Good for you and def get some flowers for her hun...
Escapism isn't necessarily bad, but is definitely unhealthy in the long term. While helpful in the short term, things will degrade over time. At some point, the escapee will have to face the issue. Things simply blowing over isn't really going to happen in many situations.

Because life is too short not to.

It's ironic ... I finally found a group of guys I fit in with. Funny how they all enjoy being one of the girls.

Congrats, it must be so liberating and freeing to be able to be yourself!

(Although I do agree with audreyinalbany, that stipulations such as shaving your legs always seem to go one way!)

    Sounds great!
A tip someone gave me when I first came out was to always go about 25 miles from home when you go out. It diminishes the chance of meeting someone you know.
