What we’re seeing now in acceptable female clothing is the result of a long battle. There was a time when a woman could be jailed for wearing pants in public. Now it’s our turn.
What do I do on days when I don't crossdress? I have no idea.
Cynthia, You're right ... we are making progress. Women in pants have gone from totally taboo, to the daring fringe (Catherine Hepburn, Amelia Earhart) to uniform-of-the-day in the 2016 election. Men in dresses have made some progress as well. In the 1960s, I remember men getting arrested for "impersonating a woman". The laws may still actually be on the books but not enforced. We may get a lot of public ridicule these days but not likely jailed simply for wearing a dress.
Women represent around 50% of the population (maybe slightly more). A fashion trend among women, if popularized, can move in months or seasons rather than decades. Unfortunately, we crossdressers represent a small fraction of half the population. We have a lot less momentum to move that mountain .... although it is moving .... slowly.
