    Insurance Companies covering GRS?

Good evening all! I was hoping I could get some recommendations of insurance companies in the Midwest, specifically Wisconsin, that have covered Gender Reassignment Surgery?!

Thank you for your time and help!

    Very Respectfully,
    Justine

Because of the lack of responses, you may need to do your own investigating. One way, is to call the billing departments of hospitals where you know SRS is done and ask what companies they see covering the procedure. Calling each insurance company will get tedious but will work. If you do not currently have any insurance, you may have a waiting period with any company. A Google search for “insurance companies that cover SRS” yields a lot of useful information. Good luck.

I haven't had GRS yet but my Blue Cross Blue Shield has always covered hormones and the one place I did ask about GRS said they take BCBS.

Insurance is a state by state issue. It's not enough to know who covers it in the mid-west, you need an insurance provider within your own state who will cover it. As well make sure that the policy you chose covers it as not all policies with every company provides that coverage. For us in California, any insurance provider in the state, except private insurance that some businesses offer, legally has to cover all necessary TG medical care.

    Good luck with your search.
