There was a recent thread about confidence, like dressing all the way and going out dressed.
It just occurred to me that there is an alternate way to think about it, "Shields up", as in Star Trek.
Think if you would be more confident if you could CD with 'Shields up", possibly depending on what the shields blocked, having SO problems, being recognized, being embarrassed by insults, etc.

Ironically I kind of like putting myself out there, and for me it is more like shields down for all to see. There is nothing ambiguous about my clothing. I like putting myself into situations that would make many cringe due to my flamboyant attire. I guess I am a bit different.

Hmmm. I would assume the opposite? I have my shields up because I'm worried about being stressed, annoyed, or causing a distraction when out to vanilla venues dressed.
Which is why I avoid going out to malls, shopping, Dennys, etc!
When I go out to clubs, bars, and T friendly events dressed my shields r down. Because I'm not afraid of, and even hoping for, interaction with any and everyone there! Much like Sandi!
Like the big public Halloween party last Friday nite!
U can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect to enjoy life to the max. When u try new things, even if they r out of your comfort zone, u may experience new excitement and growth that u never expected.
Challenge yourself and pursue your passions! When your life clock runs out, you'll have few or NO REGRETS!

Using the Star Trek analogy I guess I'd say I'm more a sensors on full range sort of gal when out. I'm comfortable in being out and about, confident in my appearance but that doesn stop me being aware of those around me.
Never yet had to use phasers, stun or otherwise and my mission is to seek out new life interactions, boldly going were women go in their daily lives.
