    Another night at the theater

I went to the theater again tonight -- the second show of the play series I signed up for just so I could have some Nancy time. This year, I have been getting more and more comfortable with spending time en femme, and tonight's trip into the city felt so normal that it was nearly unworthy of note. I got a late start because I couldn't settle on my outfit, and on the subway ride into D.C., I noticed that no one sat beside me, which triggered the worry that I wasn't passing. OTOH, dinner went without a hitch, and walking around Washington, I felt completely comfortable that I looked no different from any cisgender woman out there.

A couple sat beside me in the theater, and at the intermission, the woman struck up a conversation with me. I don't have a great femme voice, but evidently it was good enough, for she never batted an eye. Further validation came when she entered the ladie's room after me and treated me like I was just another woman waiting for a turn at the toilet.

Essentially, this evening I convinced myself that I was female, complete with adjusting my attitude about traffic and checking out the other passengers in the subway cars to see how many other women there were. It's a great feeling.

Unfortunately, now it's bedtime and back to dressing as a man in the morning. <sigh>

Sounds like a lovely night out. Its worthwhile to note every time you venture out into the world as a woman. But I will warn you that may find it becoming more difficult to retreat back into male mode with each passing day.

Nancy, I never sit on the Metro so I wouldn't read anything into no-one sitting next to you.

Nice to hear you had such a nice outing Nancy. I can tell how much you enjoyed it. What was the play?
Earlier this year, I attended a stage production of Cabaret with my full time girl friend in Dallas. Was such a fun & different evening.

Feels nice to be just another one of the ladies doesn't it Nancy?

Kim - Yes, it is harder and harder to go back to male mode -- although it's easier when I have another day en femme coming soon.

Emily - This was Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man. This particular theater (Washington Stage Guild, in DC) is a good deal less expensive than most of the others here, and the cost of the four-play season is only a little more expensive than a single ticket with some of the bigger names. They do a lot of older plays, but that's fine with me since the universe of plays I've seen is a lot smaller than all of the plays ever written.

If any of you ladies also attend WSG and would like to meet up before or after the play, PM me, and we can work something out.

Sounds like a great time. I was considering going to a symphony concert tonight but passed on the opportunity because I figured that my wife would be displeased if I suggested it.

It sounds like you had a great experience in all ways. I have been to live theatre several times. On two occasions I stuck up conversations with my seatmates. No weird looks or anything.
