have I got too many dresses?

    hello all,
I was watching a television documentary about Queen Elizabeth I with my wife. The presenter said "when Queen Elizabeth died she had 2000 dresses".
My wife commented "that's nearly as many as you!".

Clearly I need more dresses. But my closest is to small too cram any more in. Time to ditch all those shirts I never wear, since I retired from work.

I have 162 dresses, exactly. It got so bad I had to create a word document listing the type of dress, maker, color and size. If I buy it on-line I also print out a picture of the dress. I would not want to buy a dress, twice. I did that once. It's a black short sleeve knee length dress with red roses by Venezia. I love it.

Is that the number you've come up with, Jacques? 2000 is too many?

Well, I know I must have a few hundred at least? So, u win. U beat me by a mile!

Storage space plus the opportunity to wear them keeps my dress count somewhere in the low teens. If I had more opportunity for outandaboutery in the summer months then I'd probably increase the count to suit the warmer days. Wearing a nice colourful summer dress sat soaking up a few rays is one of the great CD pleasures.

As it stands the pragmatist in me also can't see the point of spending good money on things that never see the light of day, just hang there or worst still, sit folded in a storage box.

Now thats funny. I have purchased at least fifty dresses but donated many of them after wearing multiple times I wish I had kept a few a the cute ones. Now I have 10 dresses hanging in my stash cabinet.

I do not have that many, at any one time but I do have way more than my wife. Which may be just one (or none).

No such thing as too many dresses. Just not enough closet space.

I have 56 dresses, which takes up half my closet. The other half is tops and nightgowns.

No where near that for me.
Maybe a dozen in the closet total. We wear the same size in dresses so it's great to have variety. Mostly though I prefer skirts and tops for a better fit since I have an inverted triangle shape.

I understand. I used to have many, but have gradually favored skirts and blouses. Look out Goodwill, here I come.

I have four or five. Being a rather tall gal, it’s hard to find dresses that fall properly on the waistline. I wear more skirts and tops instead. However, over the years I have limited my wardrobe to clothes I will actually wear in public, so most of my wardrobe is casual attire.

    That's CRAZY!
I was up to about 200 when I lost a place to hide them and now down to 6.
    I had some I loved.
"This is ME" I am not CRAZY, I'm just a GUY who likes dresses!
Since allot of men dress up in woman's clothing that makes it a manly thing to do!

That's like saying you have too much money. Never too many dresses! I'm not sure how many I have as I lost weight over the past year and had to send a bunch to the consignment store. I am replacing as I find something I like at the consignment shop. It's great going shopping, finding something great and having credits to pay for it.

    hello all,
I should state that I do not have over 2000 dresses, but I do have quite a few.
My wife was joking of course - but as she normally never talks about my cross-dressing I thought it was a rare statement of acceptance in a way.

How many of them have you worn to different events?
If your answer is most of them you're fine. if you're answer is only a few of them, Maybe that's too many to have.

Jacques, so you're admitting Judy and I win?

Never never too many. I try to sort out the old old ones making room for new ones yet have found I pull them back out of the donate bag and hang them up. It's such a hard thing to let them go.
