    First LGBT social

I went to my first social ever, in London. No drama, welcomed and everything. Two of the attendees were CD (or trans, I don't know).

    Good things
    1. Somewhere to go weekly amongst LGBT people, whilst I work things out.
    2. The two CD changed from drab to female clothes. This is exciting as I could change whilst there and be seen and accepted. I'd be initially embarrassed as nobody has seen me dressed but that would soon pass. I'd not feel ashamed. I'm thinking simple shoes, holdups, skirt+top or dress, a simple necklace and a beanie hat to soften my face a bit.

My wife was ok about it. CD has been on the down low for a few weeks (just underdressed, no chitchat about it, only clear varnish: nothing in her face) as she's so stressed and I need to find work.

I hope to go back next week.

PS "being seen" isn't vanity, its personal development/growth, not having to hide away, being seen authentically, not hiding away'

Great post, Sam! And, well worded! Looks like you're on your way down the rabbit hole, Alice!

    Best of luck!
U can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect to enjoy life to the max. When u try new things, even if they r out of your comfort zone, u may experience new excitement and growth that u never expected.

Challenge yourself and pursue your passions! When your life clock runs out, you'll have few or NO REGRETS!

    Samantha,

Your post brought back fond memories of not only my first attendance at a support group but one some years later.

Like you, I too was warmly welcomed at my first meeting. No one judges you, you're accepted for who you are. After five minutes chatting being with others like me it felt like the most natural thing in the world.

Skip forward a few years, a different group but the same vibe. I'd been sat chatting to a couple of other gals and it came to the time the meeting would break up. The two gals disappeared into the toilets and a little later out of the corner of my eye I saw two males suddenly appear. Thinking where did they come from I quickly realised it was the two I'd earlier been talking to. The change was dramatic to say the least and gave me confidence that dressed it'd be hard for folks I know to recognise me enfemme.

I'm sure you'll gain much from attending. Who knows you may find a wing woman to take you out enfemme into the wider world one day. I certainly found the courage to hit the shops from attending the first group a number of times.

Samantha, I'm glad you got out. You should look for a CD group.

Glad it went well for you Samantha Actually attending a group will give you real time advice and experience. I learnt so much from doing likewise. Sadly no CD support groups local to me anymore. There are some LGBT groups that are not so welcoming of CDs. Beware of them.
