Feeling Sorry for Yourself. Retail Therapy?

This has happened to me before and just happened again, so I thought I would ask.

You?ve been busy with all kinds of things. Maybe helping out people or working extra hard on projects. Maybe you have had a bout of physical/medical issues which are perhaps resolving. You kind of feel you need want something that will bring you a little fun, and you decide you deserve something feminine. Could be anything?

This just happened to me. Been working extra hard, then had to have surgery and while recovering had a dental issue. It all should be resolved this week, but suddenly I felt like I deserved something. I need more panties like a hole in my head, but the thought of picking out a pretty pair or two, lifted my soul. I determined that spending a few dollars on me would be appropriate, no matter how many panties fill my drawers. There?s always a color or style I don?t have.

I will probably follow through with my retail therapy keeping a budget in mind. The pink fog calls. Has something like this grabbed any of you as well?

Had I chosen the hole in the head option in those pink needful thing moments, I'd be pretty well ventilated at this point.
Sounds like you went through some good stuff to get through. I'm sure that hell is lined with dental chairs.
My issue is that everything sexy comes in 49 different colors.

And, damn you to hell, Amazon!

Just found these lovely corset belts in like 20 different colors.

I've waited so long for this time. Makeup is so frustrating. Shaking hands and I look so old. This was a mistake.
My new maid's outfit is cute. Sure fits tight.
And then I step into the bedroom and in the mirror, I see a beautiful woman looking back at me.
    Smile, Honey! You look fabulous!

I think the same logic applies to non CD'ers. If I wasn't dressing then I'd have a shed full of tools that, "Might come in useful one day".

Helen, I suspect you are right. If I was a non-cder, I would be filling my shed with tools. Oh wait, I?ve done that too!😄

My issue is that everything sexy comes in 49 different colors.
And either they only have ONE in my size and it's out of stock, or the fear that I'll never see something like it again forces me to buy a dozen in assorted colors when they are in stock. Just did that with some FKeep brand tennis dresses in size 3x also on amazon. Sizes to fit sasquatch? Gimme 'em all, one in every color. RIP Visa card credit line.
I still regret not following that wisdom back in about 2005, when I spotted cute french maid's dresses on xdress.com. Only bought three. Never saw them in that material again, ever.

There's an addendum at post # 82 on that thread, too. It's about a ten minute read.
Why don't we understand our desire to dress, behave and feel like a girl? Because from childhood, boys are told that the worst possible thing we can be, is a sissy. This feeling is so ingrained into our psyche, that we will suppress any thoughts that connect us to being or wanting to be feminine, even to the point of creating separate personalities to assign those female feelings into.

For me, it's the love of pretty dresses. Occasionally I spot something I can't resist wearing even though my closets are stuffed with dresses. Sometimes, I just cannot resist, I just have to have that dress.

I maintain a pretty strict budget, particularly when it comes to clothing purchases. If I don't think I will wear a garment regularly, I don’t buy it.

We are having another 3 meter long wardrobe fitted next week to accommodate our outfits because of the amount my wife buys.

Just yesterday a large parcel arrives with 4 tops for her but she had also brought me 4 dresses, 4 pairs of unusual patterned pantyhose and 3 more wigs like I need anymore wigs, honestly we have clothes everywhere.

    Amy,

It sure sounds like you are spoiled! But I hope you are not actually a Brat 😀

I wish we had room for more hang clothes, but the house is too small really and there is no room for any more wardrobe anywhere.
But maybe it is a good thing actually, cause of there was more space, I would likely fill it.

We have a thrift store nearby that sells all clothing for $0.99 on Tuesdays, so it is very hard to resist if I find something that fits and looks even just the slightest bit interesting.

And ... today is Tuesday ... sooooo

I am a bit like Kim. I don't spend much on anything. If I spend money it is usually on books or experiences. It is learned - my parents and grandparents were the same way and even further back I have a million Amish cousins who are very frugal.

Like I stated, I need more panties like a well ventilated head?.(Carla). Yesterday I was just cruising the listings on one of my favorites, the Vanity Fair 13109 Illumination brief. The web showed Bare Necessities had some for $3 something. Sure enough, a few were on clearance and now the price was $2.40 on the mint green ones! I don?t have that color, so bing two pairs in my cart. And shipping was free this week! Two pairs for $5. It was my lucky day! I still might go to Goodwill tomorrow as it is senior discount day. Again I don?t need anything, but love to pursue for a pretty bargain. Therapy that works for me.

We turned one of the bedrooms into a walk in closet. Wife goes through it twice a year and donates anything she or I haven't worn.

For those desperate for new lingerie & makeup, Black Friday is coming!

Here in the UK it was unknown a few years ago, being a purely US phenomenon. As I understand it, the shopping spree takes place on the day after Thanksgiving (always a Thursday).

It seems to be the equivalent of the long-established Boxing day sales in the UK (the day after Christmas day).

Anyway we Brits now have both Black Friday and Boxing day sales!

To complicate matters, in the US turkey is generally eaten on Thanksgiving, whilst in Britain we always have it on Christmas day. One day per year is enough!

As mentioned earlier, on Tuesdays a thriftstore in town sells all clothing items for $0.99.
I got 2 dresses, a cute jacket, a black satin pencil skirt, a Christmas sweater, a fleece pullover, a golf top, 3 other tops, a pair of side zipper dress pants, and .... a pink bikini!
Also bought a pair of tall brown fake suede boots with a 3" block heel for $8.

Oh, and a pair of skies for $5.

A few things are a little tight but I am still loosing weight so there is hope, or I might put those items up for sale on my Poshmark site.

Thank goodness for Tuesdays, now I don't feel as sorry for myself 😅

Whoa Suzie! That?s a haul and quite a deal! At that rate, I would think you would be bulging at the seams! I could certainly use some of that 99 cent therapy. Actually probably not a good idea as I would be bulging at the seams.

Sometimes I think about going somewhere like Shein and spending a crazy amount, but in the end I always take it easy and just choose a few of my favourite items. Helps me appreciate what I have and not spend too much. Might consider buying a few 'used' items one day 😉

    Traci,
Well that's exactly the problem, I am actually "bulging at the seams!", but it is really hard not to bring more home than you actually need. Basically, if the "shoe" fits and it is cute, it follows me home.
Even if it is just for a test fit and maybe a picture or two, it was worth it.

When the going gets rough, buy panties..or whatever floats your boat. Since my wife fully retired I do not have those seven hour days of alone time to be en femme and be productive with baking, cooking and endless domestic chores. So, I have no bought a dress forever, it seems. To keep my sanity I peruse on-line shopping and buy panties in new colors or search out colors of yesterday. Now? The only indulgence I get is wearing a bra and panty under a full slip and nightgown at night because we sleep apart for medical reasons. I am now up to sixty-two nightgowns. I realize there is some degree of escapism concerning this. I am sure a therapist would even suggest I engage in this over buying. It keeps my combat related PTSD in check. While my vet friends were heavily self medicating to alcohol and drugs, I've been self medicating with lingerie.

I started this thread while enduring a series of medical and dental setbacks. Two weeks later I?m back in the dental chair for the third time undergoing an extensive and expensive series of root canals. At one point while the drill was pounding into my jaw, I told myself I needed and deserved some retail therapy. On the way home with a frozen mouth, I stopped at a thrift store. I bought a Jessica Simpson short sleeve top, NWT, for $5.99. Also another pair of Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans. $4.99 and virtually brand new. Did I need either? No, but it felt so good. I love the top with its purple striations and I always like to have new crisp jeans to wear. Oh, it lifted my spirits as I put those new clothes on the shelf at home. Whatever it takes to make me feel better!
