I needed to get a Covid and flu vaccines, so a couple of days ago at 2 PM I booked an appointment at the closest CVS for 4 PM. I was already dressed, in women's blue jeans, a bright pink sweater, and short booties with a 1" heel. I considered changing to drab, but decided "what the heck?". I showed up a few minutes before 4, and tried to log in for my shots at the kiosk. Well, I was in the wrong place, plus I had left my phone at home. I wandered to the pharmacy counter and saw the sign "vaccine checkin". Long story shorter, a nice woman took my info (male name) and said she'd be with me shortly. She called my (male) name, and I joined her in the little cubicle where they do the shots. At no time did I see any difference in her behavior than had I been in drab. We made small talk, and she asked if my sleeves were loose. I said yes, and she said it was a good thing, because otherwise I'd have to take it off. Honestly, even though I'd be slightly embarassed about my forms, I would have been comfortable taking it off, but the sleeves were fine. After getting the shots (jabs for you across the pond), she said I should stay in the store for about 15 minutes, so I was forced to shop in the makeup and hair care aisles. Darn! Altogether a great experience, mostly because it was a completely normal interaction.
