    Vaccinations en femme

I needed to get a Covid and flu vaccines, so a couple of days ago at 2 PM I booked an appointment at the closest CVS for 4 PM. I was already dressed, in women's blue jeans, a bright pink sweater, and short booties with a 1" heel. I considered changing to drab, but decided "what the heck?". I showed up a few minutes before 4, and tried to log in for my shots at the kiosk. Well, I was in the wrong place, plus I had left my phone at home. I wandered to the pharmacy counter and saw the sign "vaccine checkin". Long story shorter, a nice woman took my info (male name) and said she'd be with me shortly. She called my (male) name, and I joined her in the little cubicle where they do the shots. At no time did I see any difference in her behavior than had I been in drab. We made small talk, and she asked if my sleeves were loose. I said yes, and she said it was a good thing, because otherwise I'd have to take it off. Honestly, even though I'd be slightly embarassed about my forms, I would have been comfortable taking it off, but the sleeves were fine. After getting the shots (jabs for you across the pond), she said I should stay in the store for about 15 minutes, so I was forced to shop in the makeup and hair care aisles. Darn! Altogether a great experience, mostly because it was a completely normal interaction.

Despite what you read in the papers, there are good people out there. Thank you for your visibility. By your example, one more person saw directly that we're not the monsters that they see in political ads and read about.

How nice it must be to be able to everyday chores in close proximity to your home while dressed as Joanie. That, unfortunately, is a hard boundary line for my wife I best not cross. It is wonderful you were treated so politely and respectfully.

I started presenting as a woman at my medical visits five years ago. That included getting vaccinated and other procedures. It was a non event other than some understandable initial questions about my medications and interest in HRT and GRS.

I'd say u were incredibly lucky, Joanie! At 80+ I have my share of memory lapses.

But, showing up for shots in long sleeves isn't one of them yet!
U can't keep doing the same things over and over and expect to enjoy life to the max. When u try new things, even if they r out of your comfort zone, u may experience new excitement and growth that u never expected.

Joanie, I hope you have no side effect, I was sick for a day after I had my combined shots. I'm glad the tech was a professional.
