I do it as well -- put everything away and then go back and do another quick check to make sure that I didn't forget anything. That re-check has saved me several times over the years.

My wife has found things I missed putting away. She was afraid I was having an affair. We know my dad dressed so it was in my genes. She was relieved somewhat when I came out to her.

Wig hair is a big one for me as it gets everywhere... never found one that doesn't shed hair the moment I put a brush through it.

Another big one is perfume - even if I no longer look like a lady, do I smell like one??

No one has mentioned the "lipstick on a glass" Tell. I am fortunate that I no longer have to hide these things that have been mentioned. But back in the "don't ask don't tell days" the lipstick on a glass was my bane. Oh and wig hairs in the bath room, and press on nails, and glitter. I once went for a walk and came home missing a breast enhancer (small cutlet size) and had to retrace my steps to find it. I love dressing.

We all worry about traces of makeup left on our face but one of my close calls was about ten years ago my wife was cleaning the downstairs bathroom where I did my dressing and applied my makeup to my surprise she said hey whats this as she held up the white rag full of reddish color I panicked for second and said looks like rust from the water but of course it was powder makeup residue. Another time she picked up a long piece of hair and said it looks synthetic. Bottom line she knows way more than I think because she is a very smart lady. Be careful ladies if want to keep your dressing a secret.

All this stressing about things being found if left out.
Boy do I remember those days. Although for me it wasn't the worry of the makeup
being found, or even the wig hair. It was mostly clothing. And I had a secret hiding place in the garage or the shed. Eventually she found some of the things. The worst thing I could have ever done was lie about the stuff. But I was deathly afraid that she would out me to people that should not know.

It is certainly not fun trying to constantly cover your tracks.

Eventually I came out to her and it was a HUGE relief off my shoulders.
Then if I did miss something, she knew about it. In the beginning we were
strictly DADT. but later on that faded away and Raychel became more visible over time.

My advice would be, If you feel your significant other would be the slightest bit tolerant and accepting. Then find the right time and tell her your secret.
I will say that is the greatest thing I ever did for my piece of mind
my sister's reply when I told her how I prefer to dress

"Everyone has there thing, all that matters is that you are happy, love what you do and who you do it with"

Press on nails, earrings(Clip on) and wig hair.

I feel like I'm scrubbing the scene for a visit from NCIS.
