I know where you're coming from. I've been crossdressing my whole life, but I never told anybody until I told my best friend a few months ago. She was so accepting and supportive that I started telling a lot of people, the ones that I knew I could trust and who would support me. Then I started with a counsellor at school and I told her. Then I started coming here...and you're right. We are normal. All of us. We have nothing to be ashamed of, and nothing to apologize for.

They All Don't Know It All

I was told by two counselors not to do it. Neither could tell me why other than the obvious. I went to Shrink for medication monitoring and he told me just don't get hurt. I think it was good advice because so far I'm feeling fine thank you.

I've said it before... What is normal for one is not for another. We are all different, with different views on people, styles, and even outselves.
Soooo... We are all normal, unless you are a psycho killer or something.

Sorry to post again here, but I'm suddenly reminded of a quote from the movie Shrek. "Look, I'm not the one with the problem. It's the rest of the world that seems to have a problem with me."

Wife and I went to a counselor. He said, "The wages of sin is death. Why were you wearing lipstick?"
At the risk of being obvious, I said, "Because I am a crossdresser."
Made perfect sense to me. He looked frustrated.

    Normal or abnormal

Abnormal is wasting your life away working for the man in some office where noone gives a damn what you do or do not do
And pay's you accordingly that is abnormal and most people do not even care to know it.

It is a catch 22 situation!

As long as I'm happy, as long as I haven't been locked up in prison or a mental institution, as long as people still talk to me, I guess I'm doing allright.
It takes a real man to wear a dress.

I always thought the rule of thumb is... if you have to ask are you normal... then you're probably not... why would you want to be normal when there are so many wonderful alternatives anyway?

I am not normal to society! to our culture, I'm a freak, but that's OK. I'm down with that now. I actually love not being normal. Yesterday, my SO and I went to our local brewery and some "Normal" guys in business suits walked in and started up a conversation. To me, they looked like cartoons, but they think that they are normal. Normal is what you are when you don't rock the boat, when you have the right hair cut fitting your right sex. Normal is when you fit into your neigborhood and go to the right church, synagoge or mosque and don't look weird. I'm tired of doing that dance myself. I embrace the difference, the unusual. Let's party!hugs

We are normal. Today I was thinking, I'd be crazy to think I could meet everyones expections. Nope, nothing wrong with being expressionative.

Let me add. Could we be crazy? I'm sure we all remember the old apple add

Here is to the crazy ones
    misfits, rebels, trouble makers
round pegs in the square holes
the ones who see things differently

you can quote them glorify or vilify them
the only you can't do is ignore them

j9113, I'm so glad that this forum has helped you in your journey of discovering yourself and accepting who you are. It has helped me alot also.
You are so right, there is nothing wrong with any of us! We are 'normal'.

I just hate that word normal. Seems so vague, as we are all such complex creatures. We deserve a much nicer sounding word, don't we?!

What the hell is "normal"? It's kinda like the "Lake Wobegone" syndrome, there is no such thing. We are all extraordinary and unique individuals, especially the folks here. We balance out the energies in the world. We are who we are for a reason. Part of the fun is finding out that reason and utilizing it to the best of our abilities.

    Normal ?

Define Normal? I can't because the more I learned about people in general the more I learned we are all too different to define normal.

So if you think you are normal you are insane. Because to be Normal one must be abnormal in this crazy world.

And one can also replace Normal with weird and strange.

Standard disclaimer: Going out of the house was right for me, it may or may not be right for you. If you've got no desire to leave the house, that's fine, I'm not trying to push you out the door. But for those who've been yearning to do so, I just want to let you know the world may not be as scary a place as you think.

A normal person is a person you don't know everything about yet.
