No, it's not too late to change. People older than you are doing it.

You'll need a good gender (GID) therapist though, to get you satrted.

The problem is, you can't move on without professional help. Oh sure, you could start taking hormones, but you will be risking your health. And to get to the final transition (GRS) you'll need a therapist's approval.

Proper chain of action. Do NOT take hormones without the approval of a professional. Your body is nothing to mess with. I've already seen too many cautions here about this. Taking them by yourself can be dangerous or even literally fatal in some cases, if your body does not accept them. Know your body first. See the specialist. You will need their approval letter to go on HRT. That is step one. This is not a simple thing, and takes a minimum of four years if you are seriously considering the full transition. We are here to anser questions. Please ask and get as much info as you can before embarking on this journey.

    Much love

    Hi Jennifer...welcome to the forum.

I am on HRT and have been for a year now, and I am 53. So no, it's certainly not to late for you. You do need to begin at the beginning however and do this under medical supervision. It really is essential....I wouldn't be doing this on my own I know that. Even though I don't plan to fully transition, I know the importance health wise of doing this under a doctor's care. There are great health risks trying to do this on your own and my advice to you is DON'T! The term for this is gender dysphoria and that's what you need to talk to your physician about to begin the process of getting started on HRT. (hormone replacement therapy) We have others here on the forum besides myself who are on HRT or have already been through the process. We are here for you to help answer questions and lend support, ok?

Best of luck with this and keep us informed of how you are progressing.

    Love,
    Chrissie

Jennifer-- You're not alone in this one. I'd change TODAY if I could. Do what your best judgment tells you, but heed the widom of our more experienced sisters and get the mones via competent medical authority. Ive gt to get the gumption to go the Dr. route too, and yes its embarrassing, but its the first step towards achieving the destiny we so dearly need.
